Today our history lesson was about Ezekiel. We learned that God asked him to eat a scroll, and with his track-record with God, he didn't hesitate! My kids thought this was really, well, unique! And our activity, suggested in our text, Mystery of History, was to make edible scrolls! Here's DS6 rolling out his de-crusted bread to flatten it:

And DD9almost10 doing the same thing:

(Yes, they both have different bread... Don't get me started on THAT!)
Now our instructions suggested rolling up the "scrolls" and drizzling honey on them before eating them. (Ezekiel said that the scroll tasted "as sweet as honey.") But my strange children do not like honey (what is UP with that?). So they spread a thin layer of peanut butter on before they rolled them up.
Here's mud in your eye!

Okay, that was fun! Good way to remember that we need to devour God's word? I sure hope so!
Sep. 27, 2006 - That's COOL!
I'm anxious to get to that part of MOH...my kids are going to love that project! I can't keep honey in my house...it disappears almost as suddenly as it comes in. As a matter of fact, the honey you blessed us with a while back is gone as well! LOL!
Hope your shindig went well last night with the ladies...did you think to take pics? We have an awesome group of women in our HS group don't we?!?
Hugs,
Lori

Sep. 28, 2006 - Hey!
What a great activity! This will stick in the children's minds for years to come, I am sure. Thanks for visiting my blog. I look forward to reading yours, now, too. The cook book I am working on was first printed in 1914. It has some fascinating stuff in it, and I am adding some things to make it more relevant for today. The copy I have I got a few months ago, and original copies are very hard to find. I wanted to make it available to my friends and family, so this is what convinced me to work on getting it re-published. The Lord willing, I would like to get it printed by the end of the year. We will see! Take good care and have a blessed day!
