• Oct. 22, 2005 - A Fun Day

At the risk of sounding incredibly self-absorbed and selfish, I had a great time today-ALL ALONE!  No children with me, no diapers to change, no arguments to resolve.  Such fun!  My wonderful husband sent me out to garage sales this morning and later to the library to choose books for the week all by myself.  Please understand, I love my children dearly and enjoy being together and am so glad to be home with them.  Every day...  All day long.... Morning 'til evening.  Now and then, though, it is so nice to have a break from the daily routine and run around town, stopping at garage sales and knowing that my children are enjoying time with Dad.  They benefit from it materially, as well.  Today my girls got 50 cent dress up gowns, all ruffly with layers of pink tulle and my oldest a like-new cordoroy jumper with horses on it. (the fancy dresses fit them both perfectly and had been made for the couple's little girls 30 years ago for play, too.) I am so thankful for the way the Lord provides for our clothing needs as well as household ones through garage sales.  Another example is the new coffee maker I bought today-it is almost brand new-for $3 from a military couple who are going overseas.  Our coffee maker was broken in our last move and we have been jimmy-rigging an old coffee pot to make do.  A blessing!  Later, I took my girls with to the cloth store while my toddler napped and Dad worked on the computer.  That was a fun time together, doing girl stuff and teaching them about being content while faced with so many choices.  (something that I struggle with, too.) After a rather stressful week with little ones, I am thankful for the refreshment the Lord gave me today.

About Me

While I find homeschooling a struggle more often than not, I am grateful to be able to be with my children every day, seeing how the Lord is growing them in knowledge. My prayer is to learn to enjoy them more, to show them how glad I am to be home with them and to be used of God to educate them in academics, homemaking and in the Word.
