Hey Kimberly!

I do feed the packers. I have learned over the years to be very specific about certain things, though. Here's what I do: When they get there, after the introductions, I show them the cooler filled with water and soda, and find out what kind of pizza they would like me to order for lunch, and what time they take lunch. After all that is out of the way, I walk with them around the house and point out my "special" things that need extra care. I don't allow them to pack my photo albums, scrapbooking items, or home videos. Those I always take with us. I also ask them to not mix rooms...i.e.don't take something from my son's room and pack it with stuff in my daughters room. I've had packers take things from the kitchen and pack it with garage items, and that really ticks me off. Then, I watch them. Well, without them knowing they are being watched of course. If I don't feel that something has been packed correctly or not enough paper was used, I ask them straight out, "are you sure that won't break if the box is dropped?" It took me about 3 moves to have the guts to do this, but then I realized that #1, these are MY precious things, and #2, the moving company is getting A LOT of money from the military to do this move. I have the right to ensure my stuff is packed correctly.

We've been pretty fortunate...as soon as they know we are feeding them and providing drinks, they usually warm right up and take "extra" care with my belongings. I'll let you know when we actually unpack how much stuff made it safely! :)

BTW~Where is Beale? I don't think I've ever heard of that one!

About Me

While I find homeschooling a struggle more often than not, I am grateful to be able to be with my children every day, seeing how the Lord is growing them in knowledge. My prayer is to learn to enjoy them more, to show them how glad I am to be home with them and to be used of God to educate them in academics, homemaking and in the Word.
