28 November 2008 – Friday, Black Friday

I went shopping this morning, it wasn’t as thrilling as it was last year. Maybe because there wasn’t a lot of things I absolutely wanted that was on sale. The worst was wal-mart, oh, man, it was a mad house. Anyway, so I went back home, got back into bed and later woke up.  Then we decided to go somewhere and I honestly don’t remember where we went....probably to Best Buy but anycase, I went to get the mail and it contained some letters from the INS. I opened it and couldn’t believe it!! I received my green card in the mail!!! This was so unexpected!!! I checked last week and they hadn’t updated the site in some time and it looked like they were still working on cases 3 months older than ours, so you can only imagine my surprise. I couldn’t talk, well I did, but then I just started crying. I was so overwhelmed with joy!! The 3 letters were 2 approval notices and then my green card. I don’t know why we didn’t get DH’s green card yet but I’m sure we’ll get it soon since his notice said it was approved on the 21 of November 2008 and mine were approved on the 24th of November 2008. I’m pretty sure it just got separated from the other mail. We came back from the store and the church and I decided to call my parents to share the good news. It was well after 12am their time and while they’re usually still up, the phone actually woke my mom up. I felt a little guilty.

This morning hubby couldn’t wait to call his parents and share the good news. I mean this is something that we’ve been praying for, for a looooooong time. His parents were thrilled to hear the good news.

We got the horrible news that my mother-in-law suddenly passed away. We’re still in shock.
