This week our Bible verse came from Romans 1:20
For since the Creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
I think this verse answers the question of what happens to people who have never heard of God or Jesus. Where do they go? Well, personally I believe that creation is all around us, without question it didn’t just “happen with a boom”. The evidence is all around us and we are without excuse!!
This week we continued our study on mammals. We completed a mural with zoo animals (mostly mammals). This week was our completion of our study of mammals and marsupials (animals with pouches). We learned about how animals help people and dogs who work. We also made a little book about all the working dog breeds.
This week was a special one in which we also learned how to make our own butter from heavy cream. It’s very easy, just put the cream in a tight closing container and shake. It takes a lot of elbow grease, but it’s so worth it. I made some homemade bread to go with it and it was delicious!! So, just shake until the cream turns into butter. Then drain the buttermilk (white milky leftovers) by rinsing the butter in cold water. The butter will go rancid if you omit this step. Put it in a butter dish and refrigerate for a while....and enjoy!!
In Math this week Mieke learned to read time. We focused primarily on reading minutes. She practiced counting in 5’s and then switching to 1’s.
The LLATL spelling words for the week were: flavor, color, other & two.
We’re still working on the Sequential spelling too. The words are a lot more of a challenge and I can see how she is challenged but at the same time her skills increase from day to day. I’m very satisfied with the program and will continue to use it.
On Monday there was no MAFA class.
