It's a new year!

Posted in Daily Life
Wow, 2008!!
We had a nice, quiet New Year's Eve here.  Jody worked on the van and the kids played outside with their friends all day.  Around 10PM, Jody and the kids set off fireworks and lit up some sparklers.  Some people a few streets over also gave us quite a nice fireworks display...we wondered where they bought them...but oh well, they were fun to watch.

Christmas eve was great, we went over to my brother and sister-in-laws house, had a huge yummy dinner and desserts.  My brother-in-law gave the kids a Nintendo Wii...boy were they thrilled!!!

Christmas day we stayed at home, it was cold and rainy.  We ate leftovers and watched Pirates 3 and watched the kids play with the Wii, that system is so much fun.  I don't like video games usually, but I do like how they're up and moving around and laughing when they play this.

We've been enjoying our break from school and we were going to start back up today but I decided to wait until Monday the 7th.

Tennis lessons were canceled today because it's too cold and windy, so we're just staying home or going to friends houses around here or having them over.  I really need to clean...but if you've read this blog over any length of time, you'll know I hate to clean and put it off as long as possible.  I want to change that for the new year, in that I want my house cleaner...but I am still unmotivated.

I've also been making lists of foods I want to cut down on for our family, and another list of healthy foods to buy when I shop.  I think we eat pretty healthy compared to most families these days, but I want to make it even better.

I need to start looking over the children's curriculum again and get ready to start back up.  I'm also debating on what to use next year.  I need to take a trip to the homeschool store soon and get a few things, one being a book on homeschooling high school, because Zarek will start high school in the fall!!  I still can't believe it.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." ~Jeremiah 29:11-13
