• Sep. 12, 2006 - More poetry

I am posting a quick post.  My grandmother is having health problems, and we dont' think she'll make it through the night.  The kids did an Acrostic poem this week, and I thought I'd post them for you to read.

Please leave a comment, my children enjoy reading what you thought of thier poems.

Corbin (7 years)

Cats

Crawl

Agile

Tail

Scratch

By: Corbin

Agile was a word I helped him with.  He wanted to write about how they move, but couldn't think of a word.  So we got out the dictionary, and looked up a words, and came to this one.  I read the definintion to him, and he liked it.  So he used it in his poem.  Talk about how poetry increases vocabulary understanding!  Wow!

Josh (5 years)

Jesus

Joiner (because he joins people together in so many ways)

Empty tomb

Savior

Unselfish

Serve

By: Josh

I have to admit this one is my favorite.  He is so sweet and innocent.  I just love to hug him.

Jacob (13 years)

Jacob

Joyful

Athletic

Crazy

Olympic

Big

By: Jacob

He used his name, it was his choice.  I liked the words he picked to describe himself.  He is very athletic, and he used Olympic, because he does back flips and such, and just loves gymnastics.  I thought it was well done.

We look forward to hearing your comments!

I will pray that God helps your family deal with your sorrow at this time. I hope she is not suffering and you can be comforted with Gods arms wrapped around you.

I just found your blog and wanted to say what a blessing it was to me! We have a many of the same interests. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother...I lost mine back in April. We knew she was dying and had two days to talk to her, sing to her and honor her. It was an amazing time that we'll never forget. I miss her so much though--as I'm sure you will too. I will be in prayer for your family as you go through this time.

Tell the kids that they did a fabulous job on those poems! I was inspired to get my kiddos more into it, so thank you guys! Please feel free to come visit me over at "Simple Folk." :o)

I think they all got the poetry gene from Mama!
All the words they chose reflected who they are.
Wonderful imagery.
Great job, kids.
be blessed,
Miss Meg
