Here are the kids...ALL of them! :) My daughter (not happy with me for taking a picture of her without her make-up), My 14yos (who thinks he is Indiana Jones), my 6yos who was so excited, my 8yos who was looking forward to the hike, and my 16 (now 17yos) the tall guy on the right. When did my kids get so big?

We got stuck at the visitors center for about 2 hours. It seems the night before a bear had attacked and killed an 11 year old boy, stealing him right out of the tent. We had to wait while the fish and game found it and killed it (this is what they do when a bear attacks a child, they have to shoot it).
While we were waiting we found this beautiful moth. We took pictures of it. Have not had time to identify it with all that is going on in our lives.

Here are my two smallest boys on a few rocks. We are about half way up the trail. It is about a mile and a half, but it felt like 20 miles. LOL I was wheezing like you wouldn't believe!!! I used the cute pose as an excuse to rest and catch my breath...by taking a picture. LOL

Here is my littlest (6yos) in front of a broken stalactite. It was so pretty in here, but so hard to get the pictures to turn out right.

This is a picture of a stalactite (on the top) and a stalactmite (on the bottom) that are close to meeting. It will take a long time for them to meet though. What beautiful creations God has made for us! These photos do not do them justice.

Always remember that a stalactite-hangs "tite" to the ceiling, and a stalactmite-grows "mite-y" from the ground. My kids had such fun on this.
I hope you enjoyed our field trip.
Next week I am doing a nature hike (Charlotte Mason style) with a bit of poetry thrown in, for the homeschoolers in our area. I'll try to take pictures and post them.
Happy Learning!

And what a handsome set of boys and a beautiful daughter you have! So funny, before I read the Indiana Jones reference it had already popped into my head from the picture! Can he crack whips? :o)
As usual, thanks for visiting my blog! I always enjoy hearing from you!
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
