• Jan. 5, 2009 - My HS daughter is EGAGED!!!

My daughter who is 20 years old has been courted for a year by a young man that we know.

He asked to meet with my husband on New Year's Eve day, and asked for his permission to ask her to marry him.  We knew it was coming and are very happy about it.  He is a nice young man, and treats our daughter with respect and love.

On New Years Day (right after the ball dropped in New York City) he dropped down on one knee and proposed in front of her family and friends (we were having a small party to celebrate the New Year).

We are all excited.  They are set to marry in mid May (we start looking for a reception center tomorrow).  After that we'll know an exact date once we find what is availiable.

She has been homeschooled since 4th grade, and has gone to college and had to take a sabbatical because of her seizures.  Her epilepsy is under control and she will have her driver's license back soon...then she will finish college.

They young man has one year left for his Bachelor's degree...so he is finishing school ASAP.

Here are pictures of the happy couple and the ring:

What a lovely way to start the new year!

RYC: I realized after I made the list that I forgot to mention the two teabags and three purses that were also in there. Your guess is as good as mine. If I find a bottle of water I should be able to survive in there for days! ;o)

Peace and Laughter!

Congrats to her and to you, soon to have a new son in law! How precious that they have done it Gods way -- courting. What a beauitful marriage it will be -- blessed by the One who made them for one another. I can't wait to read more details.

I had a chance to quickly review your more recent posts, and this is such wonderful news. I've had several recent experiences of engagements where the new family member is not approved of--the makings of a long, healthy relationship, huh? Of course, there are times when this works, too, but it's so much better when there aren't these types of issues to add stress on the family.

I'm glad to see you back in great health, and I hope that your husband's knee is mending nicely. Thanks for stopping by, and may God send tremendous, knock-your-socks-off blessings in 2009.
