Aug. 15, 2006 - Its Here!!! Its Here!!!
My ds' curriculum came in the mail yesterday. I'm so happy! I had purchased Easy Grammar at a homeschool book sale but I didnt care for it, so I returned it last week and in place of it, I ordered Further Up and Further In. The difference with tax/shipping was $22. If I had ordered it from Caldon Creek, the book would have cost me over $55. More if I got the spiral bound, which I got for $40. I then ordered the supplemental books by C.S. Lewis. I ordered these from Alibris for REALLY cheap! The shipping was a little more than I wanted to pay, but since I saved so much buying used, I still came out better. The books from Alibris.com were $2.95, except for the Genesis, Finding Our Roots, which cost $13.65 and was still less expensive than other places I searched.
The best part was that everything hit the mail box on the same day. This is unusual as they are often shipped from different book vendors. I got one book last week, two days after placing the order!
So, everything is in and now I just need to go through it and work up our school schedule.
Dd is a different story, She starts class next week and her books will cost us. I'm NOT looking forward to it. College books are so darn expensive! And this expense comes on the heal of our family reunion this weekend. Oh boy....
Well, thats it for me. Gotta go tend to the littles. I've got a 10 month old, a 2.5 year old and a 4 year old. They are sweethearts though and gives us lots of smiles and kisses!

Aug. 7, 2006 - We're counting down...
Its almost time to start! Actually, I've had to push schooling back for another week. I've found myself watching several children this week and there is absolutely NO chance that I'm going to get any meaningful work done, so we wait.
We are also waiting on my books to arrive. I finally broke down and ordered Further Up and Further In, by Diane Pendergraft. I went through Childrensbooks out of Greer, SC. I'm glad I didnt order earlier as I got the book for almost $15 dollars cheaper! I was then able to spend THOSE savings on the 4 supplemental books we will be needing. Anyway, they should all be here with in the next 2 weeks. But let me tell you, I cant BELIEVE the cost of shipping?! Outrageous. But I cant find them here and I was able to get them at Alibris, new and used for under 3 dollars. All except the Genesis, book, that ran $13.78. A dollar cheaper than if I had purchased through Barnes and Noble. Not bad.
So, we will journey on after the 19th of this month. Next Friday we go to VA for my huge family reunion. We're looking at over 400 people! Glad its only a weekend. :0). Anyway when we get back, dd will start her class at TCL and then we are hitting the road at a slow run!

Jul. 30, 2006 - I Cant Believe Its Gone!
Man O Man! The month of July is already history. WOW!!!! And just like clockwork, my internal timer is looking towards fall and winter. Its a bit premature but hey...
I guess my mind starts looking forward to autumn because I cant really do much during the heat of the summer. Because of my eczema/psoriasis, I cant tolerate the outdoors. Sweat makes me break out like crazy. So, indoors I stay.
I've been slowly getting ds back into schooling. A little here, a little there. One of the little boys that we are keeping will be starting public school the second week of August. It should be alot more calm and structured.
We'll work straight through this week and next week then take off about 3 days to attend a family reunion. Then its back on again!
I've been checking on and reading up on the Chronicles of Narnia Farther Up and Farther In curriculum. I have made up my mind to order it and so I will as soon as I finish up posting! I'm excited! Still searching for a reasonably priced microscope.
Dh is working on my van. The thing is trying to drive me crazy! But, as it will be paid for in September, I'm not trying to pick up a new car payment. Its driveable but it has some issues. Dh is replacing the steering wheel pump (?).
In The Kitchen...
Toda I will be baking tea cakes. I found the recipe on line and it looks pretty tasty AND easy. I'll post the recipe after I get the thumbs up from the family!
In The Sewing Room...
I plan to mend my long black slip, dh's winter hat, and a praire skirt.
In The Library...
I'm reading Wives and Daughers and a few chapters of Pride and Prejudice. I will also be working on a Bible study.
In The Study...
I want to work on this weeks lesson plan and write a few letters.
Have a blessed day!

Jul. 19, 2006 - Its HOT!!!!
But then, you probably already knew that! Unfortunately, I cant go swimming as extreme heat causes the eczema/psoriasis to be flair up. And once it flairs up, its scratch city for a couple of weeks.
I've been cleaning bedrooms yesterday. Mainly, detoxing ds's bedroom. What a MESS! We got rid of SEVERAL bags of outgrown cloths and toys and such. Now I have a better idea of what I need to purchase for him. He needs a new jacket/coat, more socks (my dryer eats them) and undies. A few dress slacks and shirts, and a couple of sweaters. Oh and sneakers and dress shoes. Not to bad. I plan to hit the thrift stores and swapmeets for the majority of things.
I also went through my closet and I've come to realize that my style of dress has a lot to be desired! I love cool cotton dresses but the ones I got rid of yesterday were shapless and not very attractive. Not something that was likely to bring a look of amore from dh! lol.
Anyway, they is gone! Now I can focus on replenishing my wadrobe.
As for school, a little reading here and there. Not alot of motivation (to sit and school) when your house needs to be decluttered.
I've found that I'm in the mood to prepare for school. The year round public schools started last week. It has been so hot that school looks pretty good, if you can be inside a cool building. Some of these poor kids would swelter if it werent for that cool building.
Other than picking up some glue, pencils and pens, and paint and paper, we should be pretty set. I am searching for the Chronicles of Narnia curriculum. Let me rephrase that, I'm searching for a GOOD price on the Chronicles of Narnia curriculum. Ds has expressed an interest in doing this year long study. I've had it in hand and should have purchased it when I had the chance. Oh well, I'll get it within the next couple of weeks.
Dd is enrolled in her dual enrollment classes at the community college. Glad thats over with! She's excited and has already gotten her school supplies put together.
The biggest thing is going to be the books. Oh and a printer. Actutally, we need two printers. We've both managed to lose or destroy our installation CDs. I've priced some good ones at Walmart.
Hog update...Hogzilla has been spotted and its reported that he has found a bride pig. They've been seen walking hoof and hoof through my uncles property! Who knows, maybe there will be a few Hogpiggles?

Jul. 13, 2006 - Smooth Sailing...
Yesterday was really productive. I got my oven and fridge cleaned by 1pm AND had a casserole in the oven, tossed salad and iced tea made by 4pm!
Did I mention that I had my 4 month old great niece, a 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old in our care?! Concidering it all, there was little to no upheavel. My kids are a great help!
When the littles left, my 10 1/2 yods taught my 15 1/2 yodd the basics of driving a stick! :D Yep, he had her driving up and down the road in the little pontiac that will be hers, as soon as she learns to drive it with confidence. She's going to need it as she has 3 classes at the community college four days a week. I did mention that she's a licensed driver? Yep, since March.
Anyway, I have to run to the surgery clinic for a one week check up, then take the boys to the library for story time and then make a run to the library on Parris Island. I need to make some copies and they're free at the base library. I tried to install my printer on my laptop but it didnt do it correctly. I attempted to do it again and now I cant find the installation CD! <_< Looks like I might have to get a new printer.
So, we'll do our errands and such this morning and be back by lunch so the littles can go down for a nap on time. Then the kids can work on schooling.
Have a blessed day!

Jul. 10, 2006 - The Results are In!
I'm lumpy! No cancer!! Yaaaayyyyy! Praise be to God.
I went to the surgery clinic this morning and got my pathology report. Such are relief.
This weekend was spent in relative peace and quiet. My dh was off (he TOOK offF!) from work. He had intended to take the kids to the local Burger King to wash cars for our church Sunday School fundraiser, but he and the kids were the only ones there! Go figure.
Anyway, he came home as I was finishing up with housework and showering. Our church had conference meeting and I never miss it. After conference, two of my titus 2 ladies and I went to the local flee market, then we sat on Mag's porch chatting (after I mooched some plant slips off of her!).
I made it back home in one piece so the family didnt have to call out the National Guard. It was my first time driving since the biopsy. I made it home and took a nap. Dh worked on the meal and then took ds to the pool. Dd made a trip to Walmart and then vegged out in her cave (aka, bedroom).
Did I mention that on Friday evening as dh and I were sitting at the dining room table chatting, dd runs into the room yelling that "M" is here! "M" is here!!! A little history is needed.
About three years ago, I was babysitting for our church keyboard/pianist and his wife. They are a young couple who also serve in the Marines. I babysat the oldest "M" who was just turning 3 at the time. Momma was pregnant with number 2. They got stationed in Japan, and we hadnt heard a word from them in almost 3 years! I was hurt as I had loved these little ones ("M" was pushing 50 lbs!). I couldnt believe they would leave with no email addy or anything.
Well, the Lord has been working on this young couple and it was such a blessing to see them again. The fact that they sought me and my family out first really touched my heart. And my "babies" are 5 1/2 and 3 1/2!!!!
They came to church on Sunday and clung to me. I was so proud!
Fast forward...I quit my job and will now be babysitting our associate pastor (and wife) two little ones plus a newborn, when she makes her appearance. I will also be taking care of my other "babies" when school is in intersessioin (year round school with 4 week breaks). I might keep 3.1/2 year old til pre-K arrangements can be made.
All this while caring for my infant great niece!
My cup runneth over...

Jul. 5, 2006 - Today in an UnFocused Home...
I'm back from my biopsy. It went well. We got there on time and my surgeon was also on time. I was heavily sedated and now I'm dealing with bouts of dozing on and off!
My dh sat with me in the APU while waiting for the corpmen to get me ready. I sat on his lap and read a few books of Psalms (24-27 I think) and just rested in his arms til it was time to go. Since he couldnt go with me in the OR he stood outside the door watching til the doors closed. I will ALWAYS treasure that memory!
Now I'm home and confined to the bed. Everytime I get up, I get shooed back so here I stay
.
I am finding it a little hard to concentrate for long stretches of time, so I WONT be making decisions this week
.
The next step is the waiting. I wont get the results til sometime next week.
Can you believe that I ACTUALLY tried to introduce a new math concept when the drugs are still in me? I wouldnt recommend it!
Seems like my family is in the babysitting business again. We've been getting calls from friends and family requesting our services. As I'm sick of the deli and have lost interest in it, I think this is an easy way to stay home, love up and teach some little ones AND make money. We'll see what the Lord says!

Jul. 3, 2006 - Feeling a Little Fuzzy...
I dont know WHAT it is, but for the last two days, functioning is a real chore! Yesterday I had to niss church as our Aunt Rachel (85-suffers from dementia) was with me. Everything hurts her and poor soul has such a hard time walking! AND her bowels are sometimes loose, soooo, home I stayed.
Aunt Rachel is my dmil's sister. Me and another dsil (married to dh's brother) are caring for her while my dmil is on a MUCH needed vacation. She's been caring for my late brother in law AND Aunt Ray for SO long. We demanded that she leave! Anyway, I have Aunt Ray in the mornings and afternoons and Carol (dsil) has her in the evenings. Well be doing this for the rest of the week.
Poor old sweetheart cant remember from hour to hour (some days, half hour to half hour) but she has an EXCELLENT appetite!
I went in for my pre-op work this morning and I'm scheduled for my surgery Wednesday at 6:30am. All goes well, I can be home by 10am.
Back to feeling fuzzy...
I just feel so drained! The heat and the caring of Aunt Ray, not to mention painting our bedroom and bathroom (ALONE!). Did I mention that EVERYTHING had to be dusted and cleaned and decluttered?!
I just couldnt imagine recouping in my dark and dreary Victorian era nightmare! One thing I've noticed is that the paint triggers my eczema/psoriasis outbreak. So, I WONT be painting anymore!
Maybe the Zyrtec is having an effect on me. Only, its not like I'm not use to the meds as I'm always taking them.
On the pig front...
My german shepard finally cracked and broke her chain, ran down the hog and bit him on his ear. I havent seen him since. I called dh and told him he needed to come and handle the dog/hog situation as I'm so disgusted, I might just shot everything on four legs and call it a day. I'm sick of critters.
And when I think of that hog roaming free OR dead somewhere, I cant help but think about the money spent on it. I have no warm, fuzzy feelings about the hog, didnt want it to begin with and my attitude hasnt changed. And the fact that the dogs wont stay where they belong but continuing to get out the fence and roam free (even after being tied and chained).
I DONT need the critter drama right now!

Jul. 2, 2006 - A Weekend on the Farm!
Okay, I went to get the pig. We only got one. I drove up to dh's job and there it was. Brown and ugly. I might also mention that its a "hog" not a pig. Nothing like Wilbur (Charlottes Web).
Anyway, dh put it in the back yard in a little enclosure near the german shepard. He was hoping the shepard, Ginger, would keep him in his area. NOT. She was just not interested. So, Mr. No (dd's name) is roaming my back yard. He found a spot of mud and has now rooted around it. Dd says all we need now are chickens! ROFLOL.
He wont be around long. We should be butchering him in about a few weeks. Growing up on a farm, I know that its not quite ready but we just dont have the space to keep him longer. And if he roots up one of my rose bushes...its on. The table that is!

Jul. 2, 2006 - Maybe This IS Normal...!
Hello Blessed Ladies,
First off, thank you all for your sweet prayers and comments. They mean so much! A special thanks to Sylvia and Veronica!
Here are a few updates from the past two weeks...
Well, I went to the surgery clinic this morning and he found a lump in another area of the same breast. He wants to do a surgical biopsy on it. I'm scheduled for next Wednesday.
The funny thing about this is that he hmmmed and hawed on the first go round, but this one, he wants to get into. I'll have to be put under. I HATE that! Talk about ugly coming out! lol.
Anyway, its all in the Lords hands! Please keep me in prayer.
On the domestic front, here's one for the books..
That I'm babysitting my little 3 month old neice? Yep, she's a juicey one!
Next week will be pretty interesting as I'm also watching Aunt Ray (dmil's sister) as she (dmil) is going on a MUCH needed vacation tomorrow. We pretty much had to make her go!
One good thing is I have another driver in the house PLUS I wont half to go anywhere. Except Monday morning when I go for my pre-op stuff. That shouldnt take more than a half hour.
I'm truly looking forward to my home!
Oh, I bought paint to re-paint our bedroom tomorrow. I cant wait!
p.s.
dh has informed me that I will have to go pick up two wild hogs tomorrow on the pickup truck! ROFSOL!!! Can you picture me driving along the country roads in my old beat-up with hogs in the back?!!! Where the heck are my dungarees and strawhat?!!!
Do NOT ask for pictures!
And a little bit about my little guy...
Please pray for my little man again. He had to say goodbye to his best friend today. Eric is leaving for Hawaii (via Mississippi, Florida and Virginia!) His mom is a Capt. in the Marine Corp.
Last week he lost his uncle (he hasnt forgiven us for not letting him attend the funeral) now this.
He's a sad little fellow and its breaking my heart to see him so down!
Since saying goodbye to his buddy, DJ seems to be doing well. He got his cry out and has bounced back. And dh took him to the graveyard to visit his Uncle Bill's final resting place. My ds is NOT afraid of cemetaries. He had me take him to one in our historical district, to etch headstones!
He did get to see the graves of his great grands and other family members. He's doing great!

Jun. 26, 2006 - An Unexpected Turn...
I was all set to settle down to some blogging and then WHAM! Life...
Last week, my dbil subcombed to a short battle with throat cancer. He found out in November of last year and died last Monday morning. I never saw a body outside the casket before. He was so peaceful. He died more peacefully than he lived. He was something else, my dbil. He drank and smoked and even did drugs, but when he was not "tight" he was funny and engaging. We argued (rather I did!) and forgave. I loved him without realizing how much till the final viewing, when I realized that my buddy, the one who could rile me up and make me laugh at the same time was gone! But praise the Lord, he was saved! I'll see him again!
When my dbil died, I found myself doing LOTS of running around and errands. So much to do to get a funeral ready. He died Monday, we laid him to rest that Thursday. It was a lovely going home celebration. My precious mother in love beared up really well. She broke down that morning and I sat with her and made her comfortable and then I knew she would be alright! She is a STRONG christian woman!
I had thought the funeral itself would bring peace back home, normalacy. I could sit tight again. NOT. See, I had to spend all Friday doing what I couldnt accomplish throughout the past week. So I cleaned, and dusted and washed clothes and so on, and ran errands paid bills oh, and hit the swapmeat. Then I came back home and did my kitchen.
Sunday was our church 112th anniversary and communion Sunday also. I got sick and had to leave early!
So, now I'll try the blogging consistantly thing again! ROFLOL!

Jun. 2, 2006 - Gentle ramblings...
This morning is such a beautiful day. I LOVE the fresh air, the birds chirping and the squirrels scampering about in my yard. Can contentment be found anywhere else for me? Nope!
I went to Goodwill yesterday and found a few good books. One is the book by Edith Schaeffer. Its called "The Hidden Art of Homemaking". I've been wanting the book but put off purchasing it. I got it for $1.59. Not bad. It looks like a really good read. The concept of Homemaking as an Art is fascinating.
Lately, I've been finding myself "preparing" for something. Not quite sure what, but I'm preparing for it! See, we've entered the hurricane season. I dont have much to do for that as I still have our supplies (except batteries) for that. I also find myself getting ready for the bird flu.
I dont know what to expect but I do know that I need to continue to "get my house in order!" Medicine and herbal supplies and books, canned goods (which should ALWAYS be on the shelf) and such.
Dont get me started on the crafting and "keeping busy" stuff I'm getting little by little. I'm not a panicky woman but I have learned to trust my instincts.
Its not just getting ready for a natural (or UN-natural) disaster. I want to continue with my new lifestyle of staying home. Streamlining my life is a constant challenge, but well worth the effort. Gas is still expensive and it still costs money to leave the house!
I've done really well with planning my outings. Most things are done on Fridays, even if it takes ALL day! I had gotten away from scheduling the library on Fridays but I will be doing this again come next week.
Bills are now being paid via the telephone. The bills that were local have been paid so that is an added blessing. I have decided that if we have to pay local (dentist, etc) they will be paid by phone also.
Saturdays are my days for yardsaling and visiting the farmers market. I LOVE these days. Especially when the day is bright and sunny!
After a rocky start at the beginning of spring, the children are back on track. They assumed that because the weather was fine, they could go every "witchaway!" NOT. Keeping a teenage girl content is a continual challenge, but as she wants to graduate early, she has come to the conclusion that she needs to get on the ball this summer so she can concentrate on her dual enrollment classes in the fall.
A movie night with her best friends, or being able to hang out with them is sweeter when she knows she earned the privilage!
Ds has his friends within walking distance and a pool! He has his "new" Ninja motorbike, a go-cart and other "boy" toys to keep him busy. Right now he's got a HUGE tub of K-NEX scattered on my floor! He's pretty content to be home.
Well, time to go a putter'n and a ramblin'...

May. 31, 2006 - Back To Blog World...
Have you ever been to the point where you just dont FEEL like doing anything with your computer?
Thats been me. I mean, I've been reading and visiting other blogs but for the life of me, I just couldnt get the "get up and go" to update my own! Sigh. Then when you do sit down to begin, it seems as though you have just TOO much to say and have no idea where to begin.
Lets not forget the times that I DID begin blogging and then had to step away from my computer, only to find, when I returned that what I was writing wasnt what I wanted to write, or ...I've lost the post and was to lazy to retype!
So, there you go...
But here I am repentent and unsure where to begin. So, I must ramble before I can find a starting point that leads to a point that can be ended, eventually.
Lets see...
Back in April, I found a lump. The lump is still here, but when I went to do a ultrasound guided biopsy, they couldnt find it (it can be felt) so, they couldnt do the biopsy.
I'll post about that particular testimony/witnessing tomorrow!
Oh, I work two days a week at an upscale deli, marketplace and cafe. I can walk there in 3 minutes. My hours are great. I work from 6am-2pm. No weekends or evenings or holidays! My dd is also employeed there. My ds comes to the shop to get his assignments and to hang out with me. When he gets bored, he goes home. Its been a blessing.
The kids and I went to Virginia last weekend for a family members wedding. It was beautiful weather and such a joy to see my family! We are having a family reunion in August. Its going to be HUGE. I need to start preparing the family's clothing now.
I hosted a Spring Tea and Hat Parade on the 17th of this month and it was a success! Nothing like ladies, hats and good food
on a beautiful Saturday to make you appreciate being a woman!
Schooling is coming to an end and a beginning. As we are schooling year round, we are just slowing things down even more. The kids are signed up for the library summer reading program and what with swimming, work, football practice and field trips, we should pass a pleasant and unstressed summer!
Oh, and my dd has her drivers license
. As I type, she is on her way to the credit union and to drop off a form for the Beaufort County Water Festival Talent Show that she is auditioning for. It comes in handy having an extra driver in the home!
Well, thats a brief summary of my life.
Prayerfully, I will be more consistant with my blogging, as I always tend to have so much to say!

Apr. 6, 2006 - A Little Leveling Off...
Praise the Lord the days are more normalized again. I LOVE it!
I worked at the shop on Monday and Tuesday and I enjoyed it, but not so much that I would EVER do more than 2 days a week! My kids spend as much time there as here at home. They love the place!
Next week we will be blessed to be the caretakers of my great niece (yes, I have GREATS!) while her parents work. Baby T is one month old and has ALOT of personality. She has stolen our hearts.
While I knew that we would be caring for her, I didnt realize that it would be so soon, so I am trying to tie up some loose ends this week as we prepare for her on Monday. I did manage to procure a few items needed to keep "our" little one content, just waiting on her momma to bring the diapers and such.
Watching this little bundle will require the help of the "TEAM." On the days my dd is at her Spanish and math class I cant work at the shop so I let my manager know, she's VERY undrestanding! I dont do weekends (maybe if dh and the kids are doing something else and I'm home alone) then, I'll work Saturday mornings (occasionally).
While it was quiet at work yesterday, I sat down (yes, we are allowed to sit! :) )and worked on a new schedule to make sure we have have a balanced and productive day.
Today I need to complete paperwork (administrative duties). These are necessary as they will help me on my quest to NOT have to leave home much. With dd driving it is a blessing, but we dont want her traipising all over the county either, gas is gas, no matter whose driving. No need to be wasteful!
Have a blessed day!

Apr. 3, 2006 - Back From Virginia!
Its such a beautiful day!
The kids and I just returned from Virginia Sunday evening (about 6pm) and we had a really nice time. Imagine driving 6 hours with a huge German Shepard and two growing kids in a four door sedan! Actually, it wasnt too bad. Course Ginger wouldnt stay in the car if the window was dow enough for her to squeeze through the window! My mom is allergic to dogs, so she put her in the old RV sitting in her yard. Its really clean and spacious, so Ginger had her own "house!" We went to sleep and when we woke up Sunday morning, Ginger was sitting on the front porch waiting for us! ROFLOL! She REALLY enjoyed the freedom to run and frolic that she cant do at home (fenced in), so she had a great vacation.
Well, I got everything put away yesterday when we got home. I cant STAND clothes and luggage laying around. We MUST put it wash what needs to be washed and put away everything right away. Makes Mondays manageable.
A PRAISE!!!!
This morning I called a number given out for freecycle and I just knew that the item was taken. Well, I called anyway and guess what?! We got a PIANO!!!! YES, a piano. I am so thankful. We've wanted one for so long. It will need to be tuned, but whats that compared to the price of a new piano?! We go pick it up tonight!
I also got a bargain at Big Lots today. See, I've been looking at slip covers for the parlor furniture. I did order a chair through Sure Fit. I really like it. Well, imagine my surprise when I found the matching loveseat for only $40! So, I couldnt pass it up. I crocheted (sp) two afghans last month and while we were in VA, I came across 4 gorgeous paisley pillows to accent the sofa and loveseat. My parlour is coming along! Oh, and I bought a little german tea set for four and I only paid $5.50! I'm SO excited.
Last week I went to Goodwill and found 2 dining room chair covers for $9 each. I also FINALLY took my china cabinet to the glass makers to replace the shelving and one panel. Its a wonderful, old antique piece belong to dh's grandmother. My dbil and his wife had it previously and just let it go to waste. Theyactually left it outside! :( Can you believe that? Anyway, its in loving hands now and it aint goin nowhere!
I really LOVE making my home welcoming and beautiful on a budget!
On to school...
Dd is working, well, actually, she should be getting off in 15 minutes. Ds is doing some math work to be followed by spelling, then we'll get some history done. As for ME, I've got some paper work to do and a little reading I want to get started on. House work is done and for dinner we will be eating light, salad and grilled fish or chicken with a rice pilaf.

Mar. 27, 2006 - Houston, We Have A Driver
My 15 yodd has a driver's license! Yep, she got her license last Thursday.
This little lady worked and saved her money and paid for her driver's ed
class. The class is $360 and she paid for $260 of it. After she passed the
test, she paid for her license. I'm so proud of her.
Saturday, after she got off work, I took her to pick up her car at daddy's
job (we've had it for a little over a year, but it needed work). She still
cant drive it yet as its a standard adn she needs more practice.
Today she paid the light bill (loaned me the money! ROFLOL) went to the Naval
Hospital and got her allergy shots, picked up her contacts AND put gas in the
car. Get this, using HER OWN MONEY!!!!!
Yall, I'm so proud of my little girl. Can you tell?
On to other news. I went to a subdivision thats 2 minutes from my front door
yesterday morning to check out the little deli market they have. DJ had been
telling me about it for ever and they finally opened it up. Anyway, I went to
see what foods they served so I could pick up breakfast. I got to talking and
get this...I got a job. Part time, two days a week, any day thats convienent
for me. The kids are MORE than welcome to come and sit and DJ can do his
school work with me. He can do the work thats easy for him at home, do his
chores, then walk to my job and hang out with me or play with his friends.
These sweet ladies are in LOVE with my children.
Ayrissa can now drive herself to school and work!!!!!! I may NEVER have to
leave home again....I'm about to cry!
I am so thankful.
Did I mention that I can bake my cakes and pies and sell them at the deli? I
work from 6am to 2pm and I just loved today.
Oh, one more thing. As I'm just getting the swing of things, dd runs up
to the store cause she couldnt get me on my cell phone, to tell me that ds's
friend was coming to pick him up to go to the Holy Land in Florida. I thought
it was NEXT week. So, they let me run home and get him packed. My sweet
daughter went to the credit union and withdrew money for him to take. If I had
worked "outside" the home somewhere else, I would have messed my ds's week up.
Thank you Sweet Jesus for blessing me this way!
So, ds is on his way to Florida and dd and Ginger just got home. I think
I'm just going to sit back and soak it all in...

Mar. 21, 2006 - Dark and Rainy, but Its ALL Good!
Good Morning!
Its raining and the sky isdark, but I will praise the Lord! Especially since I dont have to water my rose bushes today!
Today I have my mammogram/sonogram. Dd has her first on the road drivers ed class (she's been driving since August, but this is part of the drivers ed class). What a day to drive in...ugh. Oh well, she needs practice in ALL types of weather!
I have my tote bag packed with my Making It Home magazine, my afghan, Country Woman and Sense and Sensibility audo cassette. I'll have a sub from subway while there.
Dd will be brought home so that will allow me to come straight home and stay home! As much as driver's ed cost, they'd better offer pick up and drop off services!
Its safe to assume that we will keep it low today, a little reading and some audio cassette books for ds, and some math work for him to take to grannies house should about do it for him today. When we get home, I think we'll just put in some movies and relax.
.....
Its later! My doctors appointment went as well as can be expected. The mammogram did not detect anything, but then, the mammogram is really only to give an idea of what the breast look like. They cannot detect small lumps that are attached. But my doctor felt it and set up an appointment for Thursday with the surgeon. A biopsy will be performed.
One great thing that made the mammogram more comfortable was the mammo-pad. Its a white pad, about the size of a mouse pad and it is made of a foam like material. Less pain and and trauma (WARMTH!).
Anyway, I came home after a bite to eat at subway. The kids were home (dd had arrived home from drivers ed) and ds was still on the computer working on hooked on phonics and a jump start adventure cd-rom. So, I just relaxed in my recliner, crotched and watched Anna Karenina. Actually, I was able to view two versions. One with Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings and National Treasure) and the older version with Vivian Liegh (Gone With the Wind). The newer version was on first on one movie channel, then the older version came on afterwards on another movie channel. AND I happen to be reading th book again!
Dinner was repurposed ground venison/gravy and mixed veggies with rice and dd's tollhouse cookies.
All in all, a blessed day!

Mar. 20, 2006 - A "To-Do" for TODAY!
Lets see, today looks overcast and a little chilly, we may havew some rain which will have a DEFINATE factor on what gets done today.
The house is clean and in order, including laundry. Other than a a quick swiffying, that should do it or today. After devotions, I need to drop dd off at work and then pick up some lunch stuff for dh, then back at home. So, we wont be gone longer than one hour!!!!!
Havent done ANY baking in weeks, so its REALLY time. Also plan to work on my afghan. I got done ALOT of paperwork Saturday, so now it will be easier to complete my lesson plans for the kids.
I had ALL day Saturday to myself, dh dropped Ayrissa off for her driver's ed class and he kept DJ with him at work. After tidying up the house, I sat down and hit the books, at about 1:30pm, I left to start off in the direction of dd's class. Since I had time to spare, I visited the library in Bluffton, hit a wholesale, warehouse book sale at an outlet mall, then headed on Hilton Head Island.
Dont let people fool you about that place. I REALLY dont like it, but the library has a larger selection of videos/dvd's. I could do a hold on the item, but I have to "see" it first. Anyway, I wanted to visit the Barnes and Noble and as they were not ten minutes apart, I decided to do it.
Only to find out as I'm about to leave the library, that I had a flat.
Dh came and fixed the puncture and then we left and didnt arrive home till after 6pm!
Anyway, it was a pleasant weekend all in all and I am SO grateful for it!

Mar. 18, 2006 - Its the Weekend!
Yes, its the weekend and I'm spending it doing some MUCH needed paperwork. I've got to re-align some things as I may not be able to do them satisfactorily later.
Its called "pre-planning." See, I found a lump this week and so I will be doing lots of doctors appointments. I need to get things in order so that my home can run smoothly while I do what needs to be done.
My dd is, at this very moment, taking driver's ed. She will need her license to get to work and her classes. My ds's schoolwork is such, that it can be done from the comfort of my bedroom or the recliner in the livingroom. I just need to put it in a format that he can understand and work on independently.
I'll also be putting him on the computer more often. I've got to utilize what's already here! I have a library of sorts, so I wont be making as many trips as we usually make, other than when I requiste the books/videos/audio's for dd to pick up for me.
Also in the works, is my menu and shopping list for dd to be able to follow. Lots of cooking planned. Another thing I've been working on, is making sure the bills are paid/caught up, so dh wont have to worry about it. This is a priority as I KNOW he will take some time off to be with me (if he needs to).
So, the kids are gone for the day and I'm doing my administrative paper work! I'll have to leave about 3pm to pick dd up and then head back home. I might stretch my legs a little and walk the dog, then come back in for a cup of tea.
I love the simplicity of my life....

Mar. 15, 2006 - Going to the library...
What another beautiful day!
As I sit hear watching the local news channel, sipping my coffee and surfing the net, I cant help but feel blessed!
I have to take dd to work this morning and then I will run to the local library to make some copies. While there, ds will be doing his schoolwork. I love homeschool, it travels!!
The reason I'm making copies at the library is simple, its free! And I ran out of ink at home. It NEVER ceases to amaze me how much this stuff costs to replace! I will have to do it this Friday. Whats the use of having a home office and I have to go elsewere to do "office stuff?"
So, off we go, to the library. We'll do school there and then we can head home and have the rest of the day for crafts and such. Maybe find a science project for ds to do, we'll see!
While at the library, I REALLY need to do some school paper work, look through some curriculum stuff and other administrative duties.
When we get home, I also want to try out my new bread machine I got at a yard sale Saturday. I bought it from a former church member whose mother had given it to her as a gift. She's only used it once! Only thing is, she cant find the book that came with it, but she will.
Have a blessed day!
