• Jan. 21, 2006 - January blahs

I haven't really bounced back to work since taking the Christmas/New Year's break. We aren't back on a good schedule, the housework isn't getting done very well, we're not getting to all our schoolwork. I guess it's the January blahs. I think it's time to start getting everyone up on time so that we can do our work instead of allowing myself an extra cup of coffee (or two!) in the morning before we get started!

Still studying WWII and watching WWII movies. I watched Taps on TV last night. I didn't really like it at all--it was about American GIs stationed in England. I had a hard time caring too much about the characters. As opposed to Casablanca!! Tonight dh wants to watch Midway. The male members of my family are much more interested in the military part of the war; we girls are more focused on how hard daily life was.

My oldest is 13 and she is a great student when she wants to be... Unfortunately she doesn't always care about things I assign. I really need to keep better track of her work and make sure she's staying on track. It's hard because she's normally an independent worker, so sometimes I forget to check up on her. My five year old is doing a great job sounding out 3-letter words--what an exciting milestone!

That's it for now!

yeah, sometimes its hard to get our butts in gear after Christmas. My only motivation is that I want to be done with school by June.

I had to come back and tell you that I, too, have a 13 yo (although a DS), and I have to start keeping better track of his work!!! I have a 5 yo too, school is so much easier with her. But, when they are 13..there is the hormone and need-to-be-independent issues that come along with everything else. Hope you all are doing well.
