The Simple Woman's Daybook week 2 and more exciting news!!
![[simple-woman-daybook-large.jpg]](http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_dUrUa10NCDQ/SKBceE58-lI/AAAAAAAAA7I/g_GUer9OCI0/s1600/simple-woman-daybook-large.jpg)
For Today…September 4, 2008 1:54 p.m. est.
Outside my Window…There are 3 windows in the room I am in, so I'll choose one. It is pretty cloudy, and there is a bit of a breeze.
I am thinking…Maybe I should be doing something outside instead of sitting on the computer, and my sister is watching TV, so I am wondering if she asked my mom if she's allowed. :)
I am thankful for…My family, and the fact that if I am ever bored, I always have somebody to play games or do something with (most of the time)
From the kitchen…Nothing is cooking just yet, but we are having barbeque chicken sandwiches for dinner
I am wearing...Stretchy navy blue bermuda shorts, my teal Mount Rushmore t-shirt, and a brown really stretchy zip up hoodie (it's freezing in the house, but it's extremely hot outside)
I am reading…My Bible (I am not caught up on it) which is Exodus and Matthew, Elsie At Nantucket by Martha Finley, 10 Girls Who Changed the World, and Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott (yep, same as last time)
I am hoping…That we get some rain, and that my grandma calls us back (she was supposed to come over but never did)
I am creating...Well noting at the moment, but I've been really into quilling lately. It's a really fun thing to do.
I am hearing…My LEAST favorite commercial on TV that my sister turned up loud on purpose, my sister laughing at something on the TV, now her coming in to the office telling me something, her singing, and now Monica talking on Touched By An Angel (Or is it me? Just kidding) I only said that because I can speak just like her. :)
Around the house…my sister watching Touched By An Angel, I'm on the computer, my mom is cleaning the pool, and my other sister is outside with her.
One of my favorite things…I love books, and I also love my cat so much. I had a horrible stomach ache this afternoon, and I held him and he made me feel so much better.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Well today is Thursday, and tomorrow I don't know what we're going to do but we need to go get some cat food, and Saturday and Sunday, I don't know what we're going to do.
I accomplished since last week…Cleaning the schoolroom, and getting some of my things ready for school
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

I have some more exciting news! My grandma is flying in from New York in 2 weeks (Sept. 20)! She's staying for a whole month!!! I'm really excited. We do have tod o school the whole time she's here though. That's okay, though.
That's really all I have for now, except that my aunt and uncle left on Tuesday. Well I have to go now...my mom is calling me off. Have a great weekend!

The Simple Women's Day Book
I am having a wonderful time with my great aunt and uncle, her cousin, and their grandaughter and great grandaughter. Kaleigh (the great grandaughter) is adorable!! She's 10 months old, and I am having so much fun. I am actually getting to take care of her most of the time (ex. feeding her, changing her diaper, playing with her, etc.). I think it's a wonderful experience. :)
I saw this on Liz's blog and I am not quite sure how it works, but I'm going to do it today and then I'll ask Liz what I do from now on.
![[simple-woman-daybook-large.jpg]](http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_dUrUa10NCDQ/SKBceE58-lI/AAAAAAAAA7I/g_GUer9OCI0/s1600/simple-woman-daybook-large.jpg)
For Today…August 29, 2008 9:06 p.m. est.
Outside my Window…It's dark outside but if you step out the door it's very warm, wet, foggy and humid. Everything has sort of a frosted look to it.
I am thinking…That the peanut butter fudge I'm eating is really good and that I need to clean up my mess that I made a little while ago.
I am thankful for…The rain we just had! We were in desperate need of rain and God gave it to us.
From the kitchen…My great aunt's cousin just finished making some peanut butter fudge
I am wearing...Navy blue bermuda shorts and a purple t-shirt
I am reading…My Bible (I am not caught up on it) which is Exodus, Elsie At Nantucket by Martha Finley, 10 Girls Who Changed the World, and Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott
I am hoping…That tomorrow we will get more rain and that my sister saves some fudge for me!
I am creating...I just finished creating some decorative lettering on a letter to one of my friends.
I am hearing…My sister splashing in the bathtub, my mom telling her that's enough, my cousin laughing, and some noise in the dining area.
Around the house…My great aunt, cousin and my great aunt's cousin working a puzzle, my uncle watching TV, my sister finishing her bath, my dad eating something and my sister trying to figure out what to do.
One of my favorite things…Books!!
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...Well it's now Friday, and tomorrow I'm not sure what we're doing. Sunday we're going to an old fashioned fair and Monday I don't really know.
I accomplished since last week… Finishing my qullling project and cleaning my room
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

I think I will go for tonight. I need to go clean up my mess and my sister wants me to watch a Touched By An Angel episode with her.

I have some GREAT news! My great aunt and uncle are coming on Sunday!! And they're bringing their gradaughter with them who has a baby girl! I love babies! I don't get to hold them, though, becuase I don't know anyone with babies. Except one family, but I didn't want to hold him becuase I don't really know how. But by the end of like a week and a half, I'll know how!! This week is going to go by fast. Well it's already half over. :)
Tomorrow my sister is going to a friend's house for a while, so I don't really know what my other sister, Mom and I will do, but we'll find something.
Friday my friend and her family are coming over for lunch and to swim and things like that. Her and I are going on a wildflower hunt, which will be fun. But I still can't wait to go swimming with them. It's so much more fun to swim when you have other people to swim with besides your 2 sisters. Now my friend is a different story. She has 7 brothers and sisters.
it was supposed to get up into the 90's today, but the weather was pretty nice. About 85 degrees and sunny, which make great swimming weather. I swam today at my grandma's house with my little sister and my cousin (who is 18) , which by the way, is leaving for the Navy on September 7th. I'm going to miss him. He's going to be in Chicago and then next year he'll be in California. I didn't really think I'd miss him until he started living with my grandma and grandpa about 3 months ago, and then I really got to know him more. He used to live about an hour away, and we didn't see each other much for a while once we got older. When we were little, we saw each other and did something together like every summer and more, but for the last 3-5 years, we haven't. I didn't realize how much I like being around him until recently. Even though i've always liked him a lot. I guess because we're the 2 oldest grandchildren or something. :)
By the way, our TV screen won't work, so I think we're going to get a new TV. We brought out eh spare teeny one, and dad hooke up the satellite to it, so at least we're good for now. :) I still hope we get one sooN! it's kinda hard for 3 people to watch a little TV with how big our family room is.
Well I'm going to finish the questions from my last post. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week, and stay cool!! I know it is extremely hot in some places in the U.S.

Finally a post from Laura...
Hey! I'm finally done with all the fair chaos. Okay, some of you may have already read my last post, but I am going to post a more detailed post with EVERYTHING in it. lets start with the first day of the fair...
Sunday
We left at about 12 noon to go to the fair. This day was chicken judging. I think I did pretty well on my chickens...I got 4th place, and I think the judge really liked them. He was really nice, too. :) After the judging (which took 2 hours!) it was the showmanship, which is where I actually go up to the judge in the show ring and show him parts of a chicken and things like that. I didn't get anything on that.
Wednesday
I'm skipping Monday and Tuesday since there was nothing to those days. :) This was the meat chicke judging which didn't take too long. I got 3rd on my chickens.
Wednesday evening was my modeling...I got my hair done at the hair salon andthen it was time to go. We got there, I changed, modeled and they gave the awards. I got 3rd on sewing and 5th on modeling. I think 3rd is pretty good for all that trouble I had with my shirt. I wanted throw it away a lot of times!
Thursday
This was the meat chicken auction in the evening. I didn't quite know what to do, and it was like almost my turn to go out in the ring. I was really worried, and I just got to overwhelmed! I almost cried, but I didn't. I don't usually cry easily, but this time I really thought I would. Anyway, someboddy from the sheriff's office bought my chickens...like the county youth activity something or other. I can't remember who it was, but the address was the sheriff's office.
Friday
We rode all kinds of rides with some people in our 4-H group. I loved the bumper cars and the ferris wheel. My friends rode the round-up but I am NOT riding on one of those. They would make me sick. And then we also rode the carousel!! :)
There's not really too much more...but I found this tag...I'm going to answer it. :)
The Homeschool Tag
- How long have you homeschooled? This is my...going on my 6th year.
- What grade did you start homeschooling? 3rd
- What grade are you in now? I'm going into 8th
- How old were you when you started? 8
- Do you like homeschooling? Yes, I love it! Even if you don't get snow days. I think sometimes that I don't quite fit in with other girls my age (unless they're homeschooled also) becuase I'm not exposed to AS much as them, but I think I get along better with adults.
- Have you ever gone to school? Yes
- How long did you go to school? From pre-school until 2nd grade
- Do you intend to home school your kids when you grow up? Yes
- What are two things that you like about homeschooling? I like having 2 teachers who will work with me at my own pace-my mom and dad. And...I think that I learn a lot more becuase Mom makes it not so boring...reading a paragraph, answering questions, and taking a test is boring.
- Do you totally go against public schools? I don't like not talk to people who do go to public schools, but I do think that it's not the best environment for kids to be in. They get influenced by other children, and they end up being something they're not. And I think that the evolution they teach is wrong, also.
- Do you have friends who are not homeschoolers? Yes, a few. Not too many, but yes. My sisters and I are the onyl kids who are homeschooled in our family. Both my mom and dad's sides.
- Is it hard to get along with public school friends? Sometimes. I have one friend who has been my friend since we were 4 years old, and she's not hard to, we both used to go to school, and she's not against homeschooling, and neither are her parents. But yes, someimes I find ot difficult.
- What is the first thing other people say when they find out that you homeschool? Sometimes people ask me questions about it, but not too often. A lot of times they will be like, "Oh that's wonderful that your mom teaches you" or things like that, but sometimes I find that people kind of say like, "Oh neat" or something, but they don't really mean it. Or sometimes they don't say anything really at all. I don't think that's right, because I don't act like that when someone tells me they go to public/private school. I treat them just like I want to be treated when I tell them I'm homeschooled.
- Who are you going to tag? Anyone who wants to do this.
I think I have to go now..it's dinner time. I hope you all have a wonderful week and stay cool (if it's hot where you live)

The county fair
The fair started Sunday, which was my fancy chicken judging. There was also a show, which is where I actually show the chicken to the judge and name the different parts and things like that. it went pretty well. I didn't win anything in the showmanship, but I got 4th for my chickens.
Monday was...uhhh...nothing! Oh yes, we gave our meat chickens a bath AT the fair, whick was really...hard. There were only 4 hoses and about 6 people. It was pretty crowded, but we worked it out.
Tuesday (yesterday) it took us an hour to do our animals at the fair. I was really tired when we finally came home after going to the grocery store.
Today was my meat chicken judging, which I got 3rd place in, and this evening I am getting my hair done and I am modeling my outfit! I am really excited...just a little nervous, though. I won't know what I got on my sewing project until this evening...there are 12 girls in my project, and I think msot of them did better than I.
I also got 1st on photography. As soon as the fair is over, I'll post pictures of my displays. :) I have taken LOTS of pictures, but I have to upload them all first.
Sometimes when I come home from the fair, I still smell the smells...funnel cakes, fair fries, corn dogs (yuck) and ice cream...it's kind of weird. :)
Well I am gonna go now. I have to go up to the neighbor's house to see their kitty. They're going on vacation and want us to take care of it for them. I will write more after the fair!

Working on template
I am still currently working on my template, so bear with it. :) And my radio thing, it DOES NOT match. Like my cbox and what I've done so far to my template?
I was going to post pictures today, but i think I'll just type instead. I PROMISE I will post pictures of my fair outfit after the fair. All of the chaos should die down about August 4th or 5th. Anyway, yesterday Mom and my sisters and i went shopping, and we got quite a few things. I got a few new tshirt and some bermuda shorts (which I really like....I usually don't wear them-I wear skirts) and we also went to the grocery store and Jo-Ann Fabrics...wait, we didn't go there!! We wanted to, but we didn't...WHAT am I thinking?
The fair is on Sunday, and I gave my chickens a bath today, and tomorrow I am going to help pick out flwoer displays for the fair. That's always fun, if it's not too hot.
Also did I mention that we're doing our own farmer's market? My friend set it up and us and her were the only ones until last time there were..5 vendors, and a guy selling smoked prk sandwiches. they are SO good. They're definetly worth $5.50. Tonight is the next one (they're from 6:30-8:30 in the evening) and we're selling carmel, bread, green beans (7 lbs.), carrots (5 lbs.), lemon balm sachets, and wildflowers in vases. I can't wait to see what we sell. :) This is only the third one we've ever had, and last time we sold ALL the carmles and all the bread! The carmels are to die for...it's my grandma's recipe from when my mom was a little girl.

My fair outfit 2008
I was going to psot pictures of my fair oufit, but they're really blurry, so I'm going to take some more and post them Monday before pre-fair judging. Judging is on tuesday!! So I need to have my mom take pictrues of me in my outfit and I'll post them. But I am going to be changing my template, so if you come here and see something incredibly weird, it will be my template I'm working on.

At least it hasn't been THAT long
So how was your 4th of July? Mine? Well let's put it this way...it wasn't too exciting. It thunderstormed pretty much all day and then was cloudy when it didn't. We did some small firecrackers and some pop-it thingys, and then on Sunday we went to Grandma's house. But it STILL wasn't as nice as I thought it was going to be. It was still cloudy and HUMID....I would rather it be 100 degrees than 80 and humid. It was fun though. We went swimming and diving (she has a diving board) and we had cake and ice cream, hot dogs, hamburgers and all that good stuff.
I guess that's really all I can think of! I don't even know why I posted. I'll write more probably Friday or Monday because tomorrow we're having a farmer's market with my friend, and Friday we may go see the American Girl Kit movie.

Answer this...how come my entry titles are extremely boring?
I was messing around on photobucket.com a few minutes ago, and here are the pictures...
Here's me hodling my cat, Fred, making a face with my little sister to the left

Here's me at the fair last year...

Me again...

Here is me driving my dad's back-hoe thingy...we took it back though. We were just borrowing it for a few days to see if we liked it...

So how do ya like 'em? I think they're pretty cool. :) I like messing around with them. :)
I think that is just about all. I just felt like posting those, and since I posted yesterday (or whatever day it was) I don't have too much to say. Although I do think I will do a tag thing...if I can FIND one! I made this one up a long time ago...well not THAT long.
1. What do you feel like right now? Kind of cold becuase my hair is wet frim swimming
2. What are you doing right now? Typing, breathing, blinking...all those things. :)
3. What do you hear? The TV blaring in the family room (if the ceilings weren't so high I couldn't hear it!!) and myself typing
4. What are you wearing? A purpleish short skirt and a light green t-shirt
5. How is your hair done? Down and wet
6. Are your nails painted? Yes, they're french manicured
7. What did you eat last? I can't remember. I don't even remember what I had for lunch! Oh yeah, peanut butter and jelly sandwich
8. Where was the last place you went? The last room in my house was my room to get changed out of my bathing suit and then the last place I went like in the car was Chic-Fil-A yesteday
9. Reach your hand to the left-what did you touch? nothing with eitehr one of my hands
10. What book did you last read? I last finished Cricket in Times Square
I have to go now. I'm tired and hungry and ready to do something else. Have a wonderful day anyone who reads this! (Even if I don't know you've read this)

4th of July, Birthdays, and more
Friday is the 4th of July, and I'm pretty excited. I'm not sure yet what we're doing, but my grandma wants to have my mom's brother and sister and their families and us over to swim and have rootbeer floats and all, but I think my dad wants to have our own celebration here with people who work for him and stuff.
Also last Friday (June 27) was my sister's 6th birthday! We got her the original Winne-the-Pooh classics, My Friend Flicka the movie, and 2 Mister Roger's Neighborhood DVD's. My grandma also got her a few things, and we had my grandma, grandpa and cousin over for cake and ice cream Friday evening.
The day after the 4th of July is my mom's birthday! I know, it's funny how in my famiy we have my sister's birthday, then another celebration...the country's birthday, and then my mom's birthday! We usually don't get cake or anything for my mom's birthday since it's so close to all everything else.
Well I'd better go...

I can't type any today, and I'm not going to promise I will be able to soon. SORRY!!! I really was looking foward to posting about the rest of my trip, but I just can't seem to find too much time. I hope you understand.

My Spring Vacation 2008 part 1
Hi! I'm finally back! I have tons and tons of things to write about, but there's only so much time to write! Let's start with the very first day...
We left our house and we were on our way to Burr Oak, Iowa. There's not very much to write about while we were in the car, other than we drove through Chicago. We tried to beat rush hour, but it's almost always rush hour in big cities. We were pretty much moving along at 5-10 mph for about an hour or so before we got out of the Chicago Skyway lane into the Wisconsin lane. We kind of wanted to see Chicago, and I'm glad I did, but it was sort of boring watching people slowly drive by as they were eating talking on cell phones, etc. Of course, you see that all the time where I live, too!

We were almost to Burr Oak, Iowa when we hit a horrible storm. We were driving around trying to find a hotel, but they were ALL booked! The one woman said there were high school track competitions going on the next day. We tried almost every hotel in the cities we drove through before crossing the Mississippi River into Minnesota. We couldn't find anything there because there were tennis tournaments going on there! We finally decided to drive on to Iowa, and we made it, but there were STILL no hotels. We didn't go to one of them because the one woman said they probably wouldn't even be up. But they were and we ended up staying there...
The nexy day we were headed to Pepin, Wisconsin (the birhtplace of Laura) and Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Here are pictures from day number 2...

Little House Wayside...Pepin Wisconsin

Here's a pretty bad sky as we were driving through Minnesota
Day number 3 we had to travel the rest of the way to Walnut Grove, and we got there around 10 am I'd say. We walked through the bookstore for a wee bit, before we went through the little exhibits they had set up. I think my favorite part was the room for the TV show, Little House on the Prairie. It had little displays set up for all the actors that have visited Walnut Grove. Here are a few pictures from that room.

Then we headed off to Plum Creek, where the Ingalls dugout site is. The dugout caved in a few years after the Ingalls moved out, but the site is, obviously, still there. After that, we were all hungry, so we headed to Nellie's Cafe for lunch. It's not exactly like I thought it would be, but the food was okay. I thought it was going to be like an old fashioned restraunt or something but it's not.
We then went to Oleson's Mercantile, where we all got a Walnut Grove t-shirt. We then were on our way to...Bismarck, North Dakota, I believe. Yes, that's where we were going. And since it's getting late, I think that's a good place to stop. And PLEASE remember to psot comments!! And remember you don't have to have a HSB account to post them. Have a wonderful week to whoever reads this!
Love,
Laura

Playlist, lots going on, and prayers, please.
I need lots of prayers. You remember my friend who I was talking about a lot who was in the hospital in December? Most of you will, since nobody reads my blog except people who know who I am. So let me get to the point. Her mother was very sick, and she passed away last evening (Sunday, May 11, 2008). Mom and I rushed over to stay at my friend's house with her daughter. We got back last night at around 10:30. I don't know any more details. Please pray for my friend and her family. I know how rough it's been for them recently, and they really need prayers.
I have been trying to keep up with my blog lately. I am having a really hard time finding the time to do it. I woke up last Thursday (May 8) morning with a horrible cough, and it's gotten worse since. So if you would, please pray for myself, also.
When I was little, I was a ballerina. I was in 2 recitals, and the 2nd one is my favorite. I think the song I danced to is pretty, so I added it to my playlist. It's Tiny Dancer.
I also decided to post a few pictures since I have tons to share. Here are some...

My little sister is on the left, and my cat, Fred, is in the very backseat...we took him to my friend's house.

A baby Jersey calf...how cute!!

Wildflower in the woods

A neat pic of our woods

Another baby Jersey calf

Our skating rink when they turn the lights off. :)

Our first bundle of radishes!!
Well I'm not feeling too well so I'm going to go now. Have a wonderful day!

I'm terrible...
I've been really busy, and things have been really crazy. Okay, Cleo, your posts are so much better than mine. Since my last post, my mom was sick...wait, I think that was in my last post. Well she's sick again with the same thing, and we are all hoping and praying it's only a virus. The blood test results came back normal, but we still can't understand why she's still sick. At least tomorrow is Saturday and my dad will be home.
My friend's mother is actually doing pretty well. We all thought she was going so downhill that she wouldn't make it much longer, but she's doing well. SHe is able to talk now, she's alert, and she can feed herself. She still can't walk too well though. We've been going over there a lot this past 2 weeks, so everything has been hectic.
We haven't done school for about a month, and I don't think we'll ever be done. I think we'll probably just never finish and start again next fall. We are going to take our acheivement tests, though.
I have been so behind on my 4-H projects. it's terrible, and I don't think I'll be able to even finish them in time! I'm so upset and I don't know WHAT to do. I am stuck.
I guess I'll leave now. I'm going to go and get ready for bed....maybe call my friend for a little bit. I'll be back sooner than last time. I promise.

Grandparent's Party
My grandparent's anniversary party went really well. We got there at 5:30, and then it started at 6:00. All the children and grandchildren of my grandparents got a little bouquet of flowers or a thing to put on your shirt (I forget what they're called). The 2 oldest grandchildren got something to pin on our shirts (that was my cousin, Alex and I). There is a picture of mine down below. My little sister was the flower girl, and my 6 year old cousin was the ring bearer. They looked adorable! I took pictures, but I am not sure if I'm allowed to put them on my blog. There was kareoke and food, punch, cake, dancing, music, and lots of fun! My grandpa sang a song, and my grandma and grandpa danced under a disco ball, and it was really fun. :) here are a few pictures.
