Life

One of the dearest people in the world to me requested that I take up blogging again, so in a gesture of good will here I go! ;-) Life...wow...what a crazy rollercoaster ride it can be. How easily sadness and happiness can go hand in hand. But God has proven himself faithful over and over again, and once again I am trusting in His goodness to lead my paths in the way he'd like to see them go . Okay less of the abstract and more of the concrete. lol Not much new on the homefront really. Small things like I got my hair foiled last Thursday in dark blonde highlights...I like it. It's different and new and something I really needed because lo and behold people I turned 40 the third of this month!!! What happened to that time I ask you??? What???? I am choosing these days to focus, however, on the blessings of my life. And there are so many! My family who loves me, my friends who are like family to me, my health and that of my loved ones. The opportunities I have to homeschool my children, the chance I have to live in this great country that allows me to educate them in a way I see fit. Oh friends...I am counting my blessings and the Lord is greatly blessing me for sure. Come fall I have been asked to participate in a co-op type situation with some dear friends in St. Louis. Tuesdays are going to be a challenge as I drag 4 children to South St. Louis about an hour each way for a day of combined education. But we are so blessed to be a part of this adventure. My kidlets will take science, world perspectives, art and music classes. It will be so fun for them and so much I couldn't offer on my own. Here is our schedule for next fall: Alec: Spelling: Apples' Grammar: Easy Grammar, Writing: Write Stuff Adventures, Math: Teaching Textbooks, Science: Real Science 4 Kids (done through co-op and at home), Geography: My Father's World (Countries & Cultures), Bible: Keys 4 Kids, Plus co-op which is art, music, world perspectives and science PAIGE Reading: Teach Your Child to Read in 100 EZ Lessons (we are almost done), Handwriting: A REason 4 Handwriting Transition (she wants to learn cursive!), Phonics: Explode The Code, Math: Saxon, Science: My Fathers World, Geography: My Father's World, Bible: Keys 4 Kids, Co-op which is art, music, world perspectives and science I am so excited I want to get started NOW...hehe...We have done some summer stuff a few days a week. Mostly math facts for both and creative writing for Alec and reading practice for Paige. ooooo speaking of Miss Paige. She has started taking horseback riding lessons and is LOVING it. We found a wonderful teacher not too far away and Paige is really enjoying learning. Of course I'm regularly freaked out as I am slightly afraid of heights. Especially heights that move!!! hehe...but Mom tries to remain calm!!! ;-) Mike is doing well. He has taken up the bass guitar. The kids and I purchased lessons for him for Father's Day. He has also started to become a connoisseur of wine. I told him one day when I came home and he was sipping wine and playing guitar that it was like I was married to a whole new man...lol . Well there ya go. A modest catch-up for sure...smile...hope this blog entry is finding you all safe, happy and well. Blessings, Laurie p.s. I'm not sure why this keeps coming up with no paragraphs...it's not the way I typed it...but I've tried twice now and cannot get it straightened out...so there ya go...lol
