Jul. 25, 2008 - its been awhile
Well it has been awhile since i posted here.. Hope everyone's summer is going well. It has been super busy at our house. A lovely friend from our last base came with her 4 boys and stayed with us for about a week. It was nice to see the kids, and it was very nice to see her. We went over to the arch, and the zoo while they were here. They had a blast in the dinosaur exhibit there. Then about a day after they left.. i flew to Philly to a scrapbook retreat. Well the retreat was in State College. I flew into philly and a friend picked me up.. drove me around downtown.. i of course got sick (blah)... luckily it passed later that day. Next day we drove up to state college and started the wonderful retreat. I had such a blast. I can not wait to go back next year!!!
So now im back to my normal grind. Im in rush mode to get things ready for school, I would like to start the 1st week in August but am unsure if i will get everything organized by then. I am hoping today to pull out all the stuff i have ordered and put away last years stuff. get it all into kids boxes and ready to go. Still have to finish loading HSTplus. I have a card/scrap thing im going to tonight, i might take that to work on since my current project is xmas cards and well they are pretty messy with glitter.
alrighty now that i have babbled incoherently, (no pepsi yet) i guess i should go fix the kids breakfast.

here is hubby's american style bento lunch for today :)
frozen fruit- will thaw by lunch, chips, mini burgers, veggie chips and some jelly beans.. yah i know not the greatest but its a start (and what i had in the house lol)

I am sooo proud of my son. He is 9yrs old and he used to go to pt with his dad at our last duty station at least once a week. he also ran with a homeschooled-highschool friend every week. well he has not run or done pt since moving here. He went with his dad this morning to do a 5k. now of course he put his matching pt gear on that we got at vandenberg for pt there. They arrived at the flight line ready to run. there were a few kids in strollers and one other girl but she didnt run from what im told. ds ran with his dad the whole 5k! he also came in before many of the military members. Im so proud of him!! the only thing he got sick from the water he drank half way but it was no biggie he was fine a few minutes later. I am just so so proud of him :) He was getting congrats and comments from the first shirt and the wing commander :) He is beaming from ear to ear this morning :) oh did i mention he had to be on the flight line to run at 6:45am! yup he got up early early to do this :)

Jun. 26, 2008 - Lunches
So with rising gas prices, hubby has decided to ride his bike to and from work to save money. He typically comes home at lunch, and i thought well he might as well take his lunch too. So i started looking online at Bento lunches. It is a Japanese style lunch. (hubby loves japanese stuff) so in my looking i found this : http://www.laptoplunches.com/products.html It is kind of an american style bento box. So i orded it for him. In doing this research i was kind of inspired to do something extra for lunch today..... sandwich roll ups, chips and mandrin oranges with a twist :) (see photo)

kids loved it :) I even made me and hubby this for lunch (hes not doing the bike thing just yet).

May. 15, 2008 - more ramblings :)
so yesterday i sat down and typed this really long blog. But my internet messed up and well its gone. So here i go again.. (warning i get sappy)
First off let me start out by saying I am so thankful to have such great friends "K" and "D". They really have helped me with homeschooling. Even if they do not realize it, they have. D is always such a great inspiration, she goes forth each day, always has a smile on her face and is just an amazing person. K wow I do not even know where to begin. She is always there for me. No matter what happens we seem to get through it. She is just an amazing person. And has truly helped me with some major choices of our upcoming year. Thank you!
Some weights off my shoulders..
It all started when we sat down to catch up with math for our ATS tests. I was really getting sick and tired of telling seth to do the exact same thing page after page after page, when he had the concept 20 pages ago. So i scrapped those pages and gave him his test (which he did wonderfully on!) I felt relieved, and kind of empowered by such a small thing as not completing all the pages! Wow.. i know might not seem anything to anyone else but it was big to me! Of course my son had to blab to dad.. DAD mom let me skip pages in math today! then i had to go into explaining what we did. And surprisingly he was OKAY with it :) ... Well Then i started administering my daughter's ats test. I started thinking this is ridiculous! seriously! i fill out that she has completed 80% send in a few samples and get told im doing a good job! I don't need to be paying for that! So i confronted hubby about canceling and he agreed! (wow 2-2 now woohoo feeling good) Awhile back i helped push K over the edge lol she was right there on the cliff ready to take the leap to making her own curriculum and she just needed that extra push telling her it was okay that she could do it! (which i know she can!) Well i was so inspired by her and started looking at our own curriculum. We pay 1400 after financial aid.. thats alot of money and the cost will continue to go up from here on out . Not to mention my son is way behind in his writing skills. He is no where near where they want him and i really feel they move to quickly through some things like history. So I started talking to K and she helped me take the leap as well... only thing i had to do was convince the husband. SO i did my research.. and when i felt i had enough information i confronted hubby. He was surprisingly okay with it.. Just wants to make sure we cover all the bases and were not lacking in areas. So now im 3-3 :) .... now back to that stubborn ats test of my sons.. hubby agreed to the canceling of our daughters but said to keep seth on his.. we are on week 3 of doing this stupid test! and his last test was a major bomb! we rushed to get it done and well he did poorly on it and the teacher gave no chance to redo, even though we explained the situation. I was ticked.. she gave a very unfriendly review of his test as well. So 3 weeks into this new test and i felt we were going to get a bad review.. even though we have not rushed it. So i took the tests and pulled hubby aside and talked to him. Showed him his work, for example the history.. she would have marked him off on several answers, even though we KNOW he knows the answers, because we quized him from the test! He just did not get it worded properly on paper. So after showing hubby all this i said .. i want to cancel ats for him. He agreed! so now im 4-4 :) I feel so much better about our homeschooling experience now.. I sat down and purchased all our books because i was afraid if the money sat there to long we would spend it on something else. I am soo looking forward to next years school! Oh and once i dropped the ats and dropped a few things in my daughters curriculum i felt were not needed.. i focused on reading.. and she finally started reading! i have been waitng and waiting and waiting.. but now she can read! im so excited for her! I do have to say thank you to K for telling me to get TWTM book! Love that book!
Alright ive done enough rambling they are coming this morning to look at all our broken furniture from the move to determine if it needs replacing or fixing.. (that includes my cricut ggrr)

May. 6, 2008 - books, chores, and whatever else i ramble on about
So we are at a new base. This is our chance for a new start. Get chores assigned, get a schedule. And i ordered 2 books to help me in both those areas. We really need to get a schedule so our mornings are not like they are this morning. Especially since hubby has PT m,w,f in the morning so he is home for breakfast those days. I think if we had a schedule things would run more smoothly. I guess its my need to feel at home again as to why im searching for "schedules" Back in Cali we had to be more scheduled because of all the activities the kids did. Here, well its almost summer and there is nothing to do yet. So we are kinda wandering around. At least in Cali we knew we had X amt of time before X activity to get school done and it kept us more ontrack. Today.. yah its 8:40 and we still have not started anything.. kids have had breakfast and are upstairs supposedly making their beds and brushing teeth. But i hear more playing than anything else. On my attempt to be more scheduled so we can get through our school year next year, i purchased Homeschool Tracker Plus. And joined a few yahoo groups that have some predone schedules on them. Not saying I will use them, but they will be a nice guide to help me at least. Hopefully I can get all our school stuff scheduled so our days are not too packed so we can have plenty of time for exploring and fun. I have started purchasing school stuff for next year, which makes me want to be done with this year. but we are so far behind where I want us, that we will be schooling through summer almost. I did drop a few things with Amandalyn, so she is more focused on reading, phonics, Math and some handwriting. We are adding in science when and IF we get to it. Seth well there is more to his stuff than hers so we kinda have to stick to more of it especially since we are keeping the testing service, for this year. Ugh i have to go now.. water being turned on and off and on and off in the bathroom and giggling can not be a good thing. .... oh really fast before i get off here.. MY baby brother is graduating High school this friday :) I am very proud of him.

Feb. 14, 2008 - more crazyness and pitty party
so im on a rollercoaster and if anyone happens to see the brake can you pleae pull it as I want off!
I am being pulled in so many directions right now. Trying to finish up karate stuff so i can turn that over, girlscouts and cubscouts as well. I feel very overwhelmed. Here we are 3 weeks from the packers and we are no where near ready. Between everything we have going on and all the things we have commited to I feel like im slowly suffocating. There is just no time to get anything done. My house is a wreck. My laundry is piled high. I have no idea what we are packing ourselves to take in our vehicles. I can barely think of tmrw's trip ice skating let alone what to pack for 6 days on the road. there are piles of things everywhere.. I need to start doing some deep cleaning for our move and i cant see the floor to even start that because everything is everywhere! I lay at night thinking of all the things i need to get done and it just doesnt get done. guess im not doing much good sitting here typing up this blog.. off to clean or sort or something.
On a good note My husband brought me pepsi and my favorite candy for valentines day :) and our son's team won their basketball tournament game tonight!

Feb. 12, 2008 - crazyness
Well I just don't feel we are getting done what we need to get done. We are behind on science and we need to finish up a test with seth. But when do I stop and just focus on this move? I think i would be okay if we could just get finished with the test and then we could do a little here and a little there till we move. I would be okay with that. Its just there is so much going on. The house looks like a bomb went off in it.. i feel im never going to get it ready to move. the kids are being no help at all. They seem to think they can play anytime i leave the room. They have left messes all over the house. I get it cleaned up and they tear it up. This morning my daughter thought it was funny to climb on the arm of the couch knocking my pepsi down into my yarn basket! yup wet pepsi soaked yarn.. lovely..i might not be able to save the yarn. well they have finally finished breakfast (another one of our issues right now) only took them an hour to eat 2 pieces of toast! off to make them pick up all the toys out of the living room and dining room and then hopefully start science. while trying to get laundry done as well..

Jan. 28, 2008 - updating
so i have been a little lax on updating this blog. My dear friend reminded me that i had it here sitting waiting on me lol.. so i came to update. A whole lot of things have happened since i last blogged, i wont bore you with all the details, just a few. Hubby got moved to a new job in the military and we are headed off to a new base soon. so we are focused on getting our house ready to move.
This school year has flown by. I have enjoyed taking a break when we needed to and coming back full force when we were ready to give it our best with school. We have started geocaching again and it is so fun to watch the kids hike and discover new things and new places.

Apr. 5, 2007 - new school room
So two weekends ago we moved the kids into the same bedroom. Then this past weekend we put all the toys into the garage play room. That freed up a whole bedroom for a school room. I am so happy with the way it turned out, it is just perfect for us. here are some pictures of the room

Feb. 28, 2007 - housework
So this morning I sit here typing knowing there are about a thousand things I should be doing. Sometimes its just a tad overwhelming. For some reason I have just been in a housecleaning lull and I can't seem to get out of it. Today while the kids are doing school I'm going to try to pick up some in this house. But honestly all I really want to do is curl up with a movie and veg on the couch. Honestly we have way to much stuff in this house. To much clutter makes you feel blah and thats what I have "To Much Clutter Itis". Hopefully i can start getting this all under control slowly.
