What was I Thinking?
Oh, I know what I was thinking. "This will be fun." "This will be a neat learning experience." "We can manage this." Well, most of that is true - at least the first two sentences. The last one - hahaha. We've entered some things into the State Fair this year. The first entry was Rebecca's cross-stitch. It was framed and finished - an easy choice. The next entry was one of Rebecca's bracelets. Again an easy choice.
This is where I went astray. I thought if Rebecca entered then the other children should be given a chance. So, tonight I've been framing projects that the boys have done. Drawings by Joshua and Isaiah and a photograph by Christopher. The really crazy part is that I decided to enter a quilt. Why did I do that?! I'm not an expert! I was getting in the spirit of having the children enter and entered something too. *sigh* Mine isn't finished. It's close, but I'll need to work on it tomorrow. I also need to work on descriptive tags to put on all of the projects.
Did I mention that tomorrow is the day that everything is due to the State Fair? I'll try to take some photos and post them tomorrow. For now, it's time to go to bed.
More updates tomorrow. One quick one though - Eliana is STILL TUBE-FREE!!! I've decided that we need to go for it and work hard to get off the feeding tube. Some days are better than others, but we are moving in the right direction! Praise God!!!

Sounds just like me. Why do we do that stuff to ourselves. I'm supposed to be sewing curtains for almost every room in my house today and I haven't even started.
I was so glad to hear about Eliana's feedings.
I've been meaning to share with you that my dad has a cousin with Downs. He is older than my dad, I believe between 55 and 60. When he was born they were still called mongoloids and his parents were told to institutionalize him. That was not an option for them. They raised him at home and he helped on their farm. He has been unable to live alone so he still lives with his mother, but he requires very little care from her. I say all this because if they were able to accomplish that much with so little knowledge of what to expect (& they had been told to expect very little) and he has lived this long (I believe because of the love of his family), how much more can Eliana accomplish. The Lord must have amazing plans for her. She is so blessed that God chose you all to be her family and you are so blessed that he entrusted you with her. I know she will accomplish much and touch so many people. I hope you find that encouraging, our cousin is such a ray of sunshine to all of us and I love hearing about your precious little girl.

I am absolutely thrilled to hear that you are doing so well with out tube feeds! I know how exciting and stressful it can be. I think of you guys often (whenever I see David's scar from his mic key button, actually!)

i would love to see your entries Leslie! We had hoped to enter things into the fair this year too but are not going to be able to. The girls are making some doll quilts right now with Daniels Duck as a "fair project". :-)
Rejoicing with you too that Eliana is doing so well!
Much love,
~Jen

Squeeli - Thank you for sharing that encouraging story! It is wonderful to hear of others who live life fully - and those who are impacted by their lives in such positive ways. I appreciate your encouragment sweet friend!
Rebecca - Thank you for understanding and for praying. It's quite a different path we've walked isn't it?! I am grateful for friends who have shared their wisdom with me and given me hope.
Jen - I'll try to post them tonight or tomorrow. I always seem so far behind. I do love looking at pictures though - love all that you put on your blog!!!
Love,
Leslie
