I thought I'd be able to write more often but since my last post many many life changing events have happened. There was a hysterectomy...the surgery didn't go quite right so had to reschedule. Had the surgery on June 4th. Didn't want to, but I had to. Am still struggling with that, but the Lord has given me some peace about it. Then recovery, taking care of the kids, then in August my Grandfather passed on.
It was a very hard time for my family and I. I went to Portland, Or...about a 4 hour drive for me...and stayed a week to be there for my mom and grandma. My grandparents had been married for 65 years! Unbelievable in today's day!! Definetly admirable! It was good to see family again. To visit with everyone. My brother even flew out from Virginia to see grandma.
I usually take August to plan for school and go through all the books and such. Didnt' happen. Had a series of other major things happen and then before I knew it our usual start date of the day after Labor day came and went. In the last few weeks have finally started to develop a routine.
In comment to a previous post...I decided to go back Sonlight for this year. It is what will work for the kids for now and having used them for years it's comfortable for me too! This year has been going really well so far. Using Core C for my 7 yo ds and 5 yo dd - Introduction to World Cultures. And Core 7 - World History Part 2 for my 13yo dd. She is more independent this year and that is working well. I like that Sonlight is using the Story of the World series by Susan Wise Bauer for the history spine of Core 6 (World History Part 1, SOTW Volumes 1 & 2) and Core 7 (SOTW Volumes 3 & 4). I really feel "home" again with SL. What made me think of leaving anyway?
I just wanted to pop in and update really quick. I haven't had a chance to visit anyone else's blog either...need to budget time for that also! And I would love to figure out how to change from this template to something more 'custom'. More time....sigh.
Anyhoo...hopefully won't be 4 months before my next post!
Till then...
