Crunch Time |
It's that wonderful season of a writer's life known as crunch time when suddenly the deadlines are all coming at once. This means that I sit in front of my computer for hours and days that stretch into weeks. It's not forever and my family and I are slowly getting used to this ebb and flow of a writer's life. We don't panic anymore, but realize that "this too shall pass." In the meantime, things have to change and everyone picks up extra work to make up for what I'm not able to do, but when it's over we'll all take some time off to celebrate.
For instance, my brother-in-law, Chris, and my nephew E. from Massachusetts came to town on Sunday. My nephew spent the night with us while Chris spent the night at John's sister's house. Last night Chris and my sister-in-law and her husband came to dinner. It was my house, yet I did not do one thing to prepare. My mother-in-law and daughter cooked the meal, tidied what needed to be tidied, and served. My husband did the dishes. I took a breather and socialized while they were here and then it was back to work for a little while before bed.
This is why my blogging is rather dry. I'm simply worded out. The other night I went to the living room and announced for probably the first time in my life, "I have no words left in me."
And on that note, I move on to meeting those deadlines. |
