A Beautiful Calling

Strawberries

Today we went strawberry picking!  It was good picking too, the berries were big, juicy and lots of them.  The children kept exclaiming over the big berries and wanting me to see them.  Some you couldn't just plop into your mouth, they were like 3 or 4 bites.   Sarah had her basket filled up first, they all did well, I was pleased.  I hope to go picking again this week.

I canned 11 jar of jam. Don't they look good?!?!

The children picked this sweet bouquet for me today.  Lavender and hmmm, I forget what the yellow flowers are called.

Benjamin is crawling forwards now!  For a while now he could push himself backwards, but he now can go forwards!  Now I really have to watch him, he can get around fast now.  :)  He has 5 teeth too, another top tooth just poke through today.

Hey Tanya,
this is Laura from AVW and the circle letter. :) Those strawberries look good! Our strawberry season is long gone tho. It ended the beginning of May or the middle of may I think. Now we are getting lovely blueberries, pick your own....the best kind. :) How old is Benjamin?

That sounds like so much fun!!! Peaches are the big thing down here, though there are a few strawberry fields to pick at. But we've only ever picked apples and pumpkins ourselves.
This may sound silly but the jam looks beautiful :), such a pretty color :)

Laura, nice to see you here! How did you find me?? Benjamin is 9 months now. Blueberries won't be ready until August. Cherries are the next thing, my favourite!!

Shelby, I agree the jam does look beautiful. I canned another 10 jars of jam today.

Glad I read the YMAW digest tonight and saw your post on the blog update! I enjoy reading blogs and seeing what people are up to, or read their encouragements/scripture! thanks.
All your goodies look yummy... made me hungry! May sound ignorant, but how do you can the strawberries? How long will they last? Have you ever layed them flat on a cookie sheet and froze? Then placed in zip lock bag until needed? Do they still taste fresh? I have seen several people canning fruit and I am tempted to go pick some myself and can for future use. Has to save money. Thanks for your help.

As always, you are very talented in the sewing department! Good job.

Love the picture of you and the children.
