Beginning Our Journey

POTC 2 and Sonlight Order Came. (Question for sonlight prek users)

Posted in Resources

Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean last night! Oooh la la! What a jerk movie director! He leaves you hanging SOOOOOOOOOOO bad at the end. Oh I think everyone in the movie whined at the end.
But Orlando and Johnny were beautiful as always. we went after the kids were in bed. My bil came up and watched a movie on our couch (Justin told him he would buy his ticket to see Superman with him if he did). It was so nice to be out and not worry. The kids didnt even wake up.

My mom brought my sonlight box! YEAH!!! But coming on Friday night means no time to really dive in until monday to look through it all.

Questions - when reading things like "New toes for Tia" I noticed a line that said some thing about a past life. Now do you pause and explain what others believe or just go by and mention it if they say anything? My daughter is one to hear and pick up on stuff like that. But I just worry she wont say anything and just believe it.  How did you approach it.

I haven't used Sonlight yet but I would take that opportunity to briefly share what they meant by that but always counter it with what the Bible says.

That is so nice that you got to go out for just the two of you.

What she said. LOL

It is a really good book and at the end Tia becomes a believer and it's a true story.

Jul. 17, 2006 - My Opinion

*Hi there. you left a comment on my daughter's, Jocelyn's, blog. That is how I found you... Yeah, I had to stay home with the Littles, so, alas, I missed another movie premiere...sob..sbo... Amanda went with her Dad to the midnight showing of Superman the night before it came out, too.... ) ; No problem, though, I will see it/them soon enough! She will be commenting to let you know the ending!! ( : BTW - Your kids are really cuties!

*As for the rest of this post- if you want my opinion....
I would not use anything that has information about false beliefs or religions with any child under the age of 12 - or 13 - or whatever age it is that the child has REAL understanding of such things.
*This is the reason we keep our children away from ideas and peer pressure or practices and homeschool them. Of course, we are radicals and don't let the Littles watch 99% of what comes out of Disney - or other "children's" movies, either. - For the same reasons.
I also grew up with family members who practiced such New Age religions, and I tried a Ouija board when I was around 14 (one of them got it for me for Christmas). It only got worse from there...
*I just re-watched Freaky Friday with my 3 older girls, and truly thought there were some real funny moments... but, they did NOT outweigh all of the worldly dating and s*xual issues like an 18yo wanting a relationship with her mother. Our Littles, the oldest of whom is 9 (and a boy), have not and will not be watching this movie for --well, maybe until they leave our home. Hopefully, by then, they won't want to.
*Anyway, I learned a long time ago that I am in charge of what I teach them. I do not have to follow what a curriculum says, even if I paid for it (We started out with A Beka). I also learned that letting in the knowledge of some things at a young age like that only gives them something they are too young to think about.
*Sorry for the long post.... I am concerned about things like this. I am disappointed that Sonlight thinks it is appropriate for such a young child to present other religions/beliefs into their learning. I will not be recommending it to my customers.

Thank you for listening. I hope I have not offended anyone!

Thank you for coming by and leaving comments!
The ending of the movie wasn't too long but I'm we waited! It simply shows the "dog" from the 1st one sitting in the "chiefs" chair that Jack was sitting in when they brought Will on the stick. The dog is supposed to be their new cheif...it was kind of funny and yes, I had to go to the bathroom REALLY BAD!

I welcome you back and your coments are always welcome to!

Sincerely,

Ps. Thanks for adding me, I will do the same!
