Beginning Our Journey

Jul. 17, 2006

All done preparing... nothing left but to jump in the water.

Posted in Resources

Well I am ALMOST ready to start prek. I have tweeked and tweeked. I don't think there is ANYTHING left to do... but I keep hesitating. Alyssa keeps asking to start. I keep giving her filler work because I don't want to dive in yet. I think I will push it as long as possible because when her cousins come over (off for the summer from public schools) they want Alyssa.

I can't wait to start though! I have added in and taken out things to the sonlight schedule. Took out the DEL workbooks. And added in Rod and Staff ABCDEF workbooks. http://www.rodstaff.com/cgi-bin/ras/perlshop.cgi?ACTION=thispage&thispage=titles/10020.shtml&ORDER_ID=337658957

I also added my singapore math, Get Set for School Handwriting without tears, and Hooked on Phonics.

Then I have A is for Adam and printed off the sheets. I am going to do those when we get to the Dr. Suess Letter of the week.

My teachers manual looks a mess and we have not even started yet. I started transfering to a spread sheet but that takes FOREVER. lol

So I am ready. Just now deciding when to start. When do you start?

Sounds like you are all set! It is always exciting getting everything ready for the new year! You can start anytime you want! :0)

We usually start lightly in the second week of august, because my husband is on vacation the last week of july and first week of august, but this year his vacation is the first two weeks of august. Jane has Bible Camp the last week of July... but she is also working this summer, so we will probably wait to start until September, unless we do some very light the last two weeks of august... I prefer to start in august, but we will see how it goes.... I could start Julia earlier though, and I might do that...

I am just reading a bunch of the homeschool books from the library lately, refreshing my mind.... I read them all years ago, but I figured since I am starting over with Julia, I would reread them....

I can't wait to start either. Our official start date is Aug 21. Hopefully I can hold off that long. LOL.

I had book E and F of Rod and Staff and really liked them.

I am doing Sonligh Kindy with A Beka added in for learning to read and math. I don't like their learning cursive for handwriting so I will use their schedule for what letters where and when but will be working on printing instead.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. No, I have not read the book, "Jesus Freaks", but my daughter has. I would encourage you to go to click on the icon for the persecuted church on my blog, this will take you to the Voice of the Martyrs website where you will find information about receiving their monthly newsletter containing stories like you are reading every month. You can also find information at persecutionblog.com. I would also recommend the book, "The Heavenly Man". It is an autobiography about a Chinese Christian. It changed my life.
