Birthdays, Butterflies and Boats

A lot has been happening in our world recently! lol
My baby turned 5!  How could this happen? Where did the time go!?

Our monarch caterpillar came out as a butterfly ON her birthday! That was amazing! We have one more in the chrysalis still.

Talk about fun hands on learning!

And today we went on a Boat. Ok Ship? Gateway Clipper Magestic Cruise. It was free day and it was a LOT of fun! Homeschoolers galore! Since it was during school time the only kids that could come were homeschoolers or ones with cool enough parents to let them off school I guess.

Why Do Others Feel the Need to Comment on My 3 Year Old's Socialization!?!

So I guess when DH went to Samsclub on Saturday with his mom and brother and bil's girlfriend, His mother had to tell him how she felt.

He told me today that she said that "I think Alyssa needs more child interaction and I would not live with myself if I did not say something on her behalf". Justin shot her down and said She had better never say something like that again.

First off, Why does my husbands family feel so sorry for a 3 year old!??! She is not even of school age. And if I WERE to put her in public school she would NOT be going to preschool to begin with! I refuse to pay for it and we make to much for head start. So it is annoyingly funny how concerned they are over her socialization when there is nothing that would be different if she was going to public school!

Cant anyone see that she is only 3!!! She sees her cousins, my cousins, my friends children and church friends. She is in a class once a week with other kids, sees her cousins once a week if not more. And sees my friends kids more than once a month. What more do you want from a 3 year old!??!

Oh and she also told him she thinks I will do great homeschooling Alyssa but Tristan is going to be another story. Justin told her he better not hear that again that she is our family and should be our support not cutting me down. He is 1 1/2!! How in the world do they know how he will be in school???

Actually for the record I think Tristan is going to be easier. The kid adores books. Alyssa did not want us to read to her until she was 2. Tristan has since he was only months old.

He also likes to color already, never did that with Alyssa. He builds blocks, does shape sorters and has much much much more patience then she does. Alyssa might be brighter in words and stuff but the kid is going to excel in other ways. His patience for things and detail is great!

I think I have two totally different kids with strenghts and weaknesses on my hands.

I am just glad Justin and I got a chance to talk though. So her comments did do some good. Makes us open the table to what we feel and where he stands. He is always letting me have control and doing what I want. Sometimes it is nice to be reassured he is in my corner.

2 1/2 weeks and she turns 4... guess that means I can't use the SHE IS 3 for goodness sakes arguement. But I don't need any excuse. It is OUR family.

My Monday T.R.E.K.

Well my day did not go as I would have liked. I could not take the day off work because my mother asked me to save my day for next week when she needed me to have the kids. I did however try my hardest when I got home.

I rescued my baby boy out of the playpen - that always makes him happy to see me. I went in to have a party with my daughter. Then we watched Wonder Pets together that Mom had taped so Alyssa could show me what her new favorite show was.

When my daughter asked for the umteenthmillion time to "Hey! Let's Play Little Foot! ~ Crack ~ Say 'What's That Egg'." I did it. I tried hard not to say no.

We had to wait for Justin to get home before we left because he wanted to run to the store in town and had left his wallet at home. We drew pictures for Grandpa while we waited.

He worked late so we had to go home and finally got Tristan to bed and played Wonder Pets with Alyssa until Bedtime. That girl sure loves to play play play. From the time she gets up in the morning until she puts her day to rest at night she is always someone else. You mark my words, I have an actress on my hands.

My mothers T.R.E.K. really WAS random. Not as planned. But I think I am going to try to make every day better. Try to not yell as much. Note I said try. I pray that I can start now while the memory still limits the kids from remembering the rough times - to make all they know of me as an example of God.

Father God - Thank you for my blessings and the blessing that are still to come. Father, help me to cherish them and love them the way you love me. Help me to be a good example to them. And help me to show them your love so they might draw closer to you because of the foundation we give them. Protect them today as they play and sleep and be.... Guard their little lives with your angels and bless them.

Amen.

Do you like the new look in here?

Ok - spent WAY too much time today playing with my blog... Now I need to do something about my Blah Homesteader blog...

My daughter just called me at work. She informed me that when I get home I get to play "Mother May I" with her. Oh I LOVE having my mom watch my kids while I work. Because she remembers all the things she used to teach us and then shows my kids how. I love it. I would have never thought to teach Alyssa "Mother May I." For one, you need more than two people to play and Tristan is not old enough. Mom got on the phone and informed me she was DONE playing and I was doing it when I got home. (Oh the joys of how kids do not mind repitition over and over and over) I said don't you need more people? I got an exhausted YES! from mom. ha ha ha. So that will be my evening tonight.

What about you? What are you doing tonight?

Join us March 13th for a Mothers T.R.E.K. in honor of Missey

Amy from DandelionSeeds has asked us to

CELEBRATE THE LIFE OF MISSEY GRAY
AND JOIN US IN A MOTHER'S T.R.E.K.

MONDAY, MARCH 13TH!

What does T.R.E.K Stand for and why are we doing this?

T.R.E.K. Is Totally Random Events with Kids.

You can read all about it here.

And as much as I don't like to think about it...  you just cannot avoid it. What if today was your last? There is a country song I love that is called "Live Like You Were Dying" And the part that sticks out to me is the part about Loveing like you never loved before...

What about in the car today? Alyssa wanted to play Littlefoot for the 10 millionth time. I had had enough and just flat out refused to play "just one more time!" Aurgh... is it really that bad? The joy she gets from playing Littlefoot. Is it that hard of a task? Sure it annoys me beyond belief... but what if me refusing to play this morning is the last thing she remembers....

Did I kiss them enough or hug them long enough?

Something silly my mother made up with Alyssa is "It is Kiss Alyssa day!" And we all tackle her with a thousand kisses. Or whomevers lucky day it is that day. Have there been enough kiss Alyssa days? What about my little man? Tristan?

Was the arguement Dh and I had this morning really necessary. Well I say yes... but... Why do we keep at it? Should I try harder... What if I never have the chance to be with him again.

So Monday, March 13th Can I take some time to just bless my kids. The homeschoolers here are taking days off. But myself I plan to take a day on. My daughter cherishes anything "school" I do with her. Since we have not officially started yet. Can I take time to do something special for my family. Can I try to let them think of me with a smile instead of a scowel. (dh loosing the watp dvd had alyssa asking me - mommy - why is your face like that!) opps...

Take the challenge.
