Have you ever wondered what you can do to help finance your home school? The summer edition of The Old Schoolhouse magazine had an article entitled "Homeschooling Entrepreneurs." One of the points that is made is "homeschooling families by nature desire to make a difference in the world." The way many of them go about that is to start a home-based business. They see a need for a particular curriculum or reference that isn't currently available perhaps. They then develop and market the product. This helps bring in some income while allowing them to still homeschool. This is in fact what I have done with my website. I've created a new page that describes the process. Check it out sometime.
Also, the 2005 Junior Achievement poll surveyed children aged 13-18 and discovered which careers they'd most like to pursue. Two-thirds said they'd like to have their own business. You can start training your homeschoolers in business management by actually operating a business together. My web site page BizyU explains how to launch a business enterprise with your children.
Until we meet in the teachers' lounge again,
