Math course

Sorry, I am very new to blogging and have not had time yet to learn.  Anyway a question was posed about the consumer math being a curriculum.  I am using Alpha Omega Consumer Math - it is not my favorite, but it gives us a base and I am trying to add everyday financial info as well.  Thanks for the comment!

Emily's 10th Grade Schedule

Here are the classes Emily and I picked out for this year:

*Around the World in 180 Days (This is excellent)

*Learn to Write the Novel Way (Also very interesting and fun)

*Total Health: Choices for a Winning Lifestyle (Being healthy the way God sees us)

*Consumer Math (I think this is a great year to really learn about personal finance, Emily will understand how to stay out of financial trouble before age 40!!)

*Spanish

*Excerise (Turbo Jam - Very tiring to me!)

*Exploring Creation with Biology

Some of  these classes will take all year - others half  the year.  Emily is also learning to DRIVE.  I will not pay for drivers ed.  Emily is jumping right in and is enjoying homeschool more and more everyday.

QUESTION:  Who knows any requirements (tests) for grade 10 in Indiana?

More on High School

Thank You for the comments you have left.  I appreciate your info!  I have been doing alot of research and have come up with some great resources.  A note to anyone out there just starting (or thinking about) homeschooling in the High School years.  Get the book The High School Handbook - Junior and Senior High School at home by Mary Schofield.  Emily and I have just about planned out the entire 4 years.  We also started with Alpha Omega in 9th grade and quickly became bored with it.  This year we have found some fun and interesting things to do.  We are working on the Wordsmith Craftsman, the student plays the different roles on a newspaper staff writing articles, being an editor, writer and reporter.  Also Total Health, instead of a "Science" class this year we are going to learn about our Health as God sees it.  Consumer Math, in my opinion is very important to learn this year.  Also, Around The World in 180 Days for History sounds fun.  We still have to make some decisions on a couple of other subjects.  I will post them when we figure them out.

New To Homeschooling

Hello to All!  Thank YOU for stopping by.  I have many questions for you all, so I will start by asking if anyone has started homeschooling in the high school years?  If so please feel free to tell me how you did it and anything else you want to share.
