Where has the time gone? I'm so sorry I didn't post the winners for the last contest. Between being out of town and having computer problems, time has slipped away from me! I didn't have a lot of people enter this last contest, so everybody will win something! The winner of Pocketful of Pincones is Lightbearer. The winner of You Can Teach Your Child Successfully is Fortheirfuture. I'll be contacting you soon to get your mailing info. Everyone else who entered this last contest will receive a free book, to be announced in the next couple of weeks. If you want to leave me a post and give me the general age/grade level of books you would be interested in, that would help tremendously. I'll contact you after I announce the prizes so I can get your mailing info. Thanks to everyone who entered - I appreciate it more than you know! N. is having some more health/developmental issues, and I'm going to have to travel out of state to doctors a lot in April, so I won't be hosting a contest for that month. Never fear, when things are back on track, the contests will begin again! Thanks and God bless you! |

I hope you're having as much fun as I am with these giveaways! I'll be announcing the winners of the first giveaway soon (that giveaway ends on Feb. 18), so check back often. I just couldn't wait to get the second one underway, so here's what's up this month: You could win one of the following: 1. 15 VHS Teaching Tape Technology Set for Saxon Algebra 1 These VHS tapes are produced by Teaching Tape Technology and correspond with the Third Edition of Saxon Algebra 1 textbook. The 15 tapes cover all 120 lessons in the book. A math teacher goes over the lesson and practice problems, and teaches the new concept being covered. Very helpful if you are somewhat mathematically challenged like me! To be honest, I have only used the tapes up to tape 5, so I can't make guarantees on how well these work. The ones I used played just fine and were fantastic in their usefulness and content. However, there was a glitch on tape 5 halfway through the tape, so I'm not sure if the rest of the tape will play. I briefly checked the other tapes, and they seem to play fine. These tapes are a good resource to help you teach your child Algebra 1 if you're using Saxon. Even if you can't get the rest of tape 5 to play, the other tapes will be tremendously helpful in covering the other lessons. 2. Bob Jones University Press BJU Chemistry Textbook Second Edition I also have the first teacher's book, Book A, that I will throw in with this. The textbook is in really good condition, as is the teacher's book. You would have to find Book B elsewhere. I'm sorry I don't have it or I would offer it with the other books. I think BJU is coming out with a new edition this year, but this is the most recent edition besides that. 3. You CAN Teach Your Child Successfully by Ruth Beechick (Grades 4 - 8) Have you read Ruth Beechick's "Common Sense" articles in The Homeschool Minute e-newsletter produced by TOS? Her advice is wonderful! I absolutely love her commonsense approach to homeschooling. You CAN Teach Your Child... is a well loved, well worn copy with underlines, wear to the cover, and lots of wear from reading - but it's still very readable! I found a wealth of practical advice and encouragement in this book. 4. Pocketful of Pinecones by Karen Andreola This has to be one of my favorite books regarding the gentle art of learning. I'll quote a paragraph from the back cover of the book that says it all: "Karen Andreola, renowned interpreter of the Charlotte Mason Method of education, has written a unique sort of book in the homeschool world. Pocketful of Pinecones is a teacher's guide to nature study cleverly disguised as a heartwarming story written in the form of a mother's diary." This, too, is a well loved and well worn copy that went on several nature walks with us! Hope you don't mind the smudges! All you have to do to win any of these homeschool helps: 1. Simply post a comment with your blog link or email address so I can contact you if you're the winner. Don't forget to let me know which prize package you want to win so I can enter you in the correct drawing. You can write your email in "code" if you'd like (example: jane doe at yahoo dot com) if you're concerned about security. I will never give your email address to anyone else, nor will I use it for any purpose other than contacting you if you're the winner. 2. Giveaway ends March 17 and winners will be notified by March 20. If the winner hasn't responded within a week, a new winner will be chosen. Giveaway #3 will begin sometime around the March 20. 3. Books will be mailed media mail, with delivery confirmation, at my expense. You won't have to pay anything! 4. You must be 18 or over and live within the U.S. to be eligible to win. I would really appreciate it if you'd like to mention my giveaway on your blog and tell your friends, by passing the word along. I'm sure I'll have something homeschooling families will like and can use! Remember - I'll be giving away at least two books or book sets a month until my bookshelves aren't overstuffed anymore! (Believe me, this could take several months to achieve!) Thanks for visiting my blog and thank you for all your wonderful comments. Please be sure to leave me a link to your blog, if you have one. I have found some wonderful blogs through hosting this giveaway! Thanks again and have fun posting! |

I admit it...I'm a book junkie. I LOVE books of all kinds - especially books related to homeschooling. I have gotten quite a collection over the last few years. I've bought book lots, ended up with so many doubles, and some I just don't need anymore. That's where you come in. The Lord has really been dealing with my heart about being a cheerful giver, and being a blessing to others. I want to bless my fellow homeschoolers with some really great books! Here's the deal...I will host a giveaway once a month for the next few months. I'm going to be giving away some fantastic, some hard to find homeschool books! I have Charlotte Mason, classical education books, Christian textbooks and teacher editions, reference books, homeschool helpers, and good, moral fiction with Christian themes. All you have to do is leave a comment specifying which book you want to win. That's it! Be sure to include the link to your blog or your email address so I can notify you if you're this month's chosen winner. Winners will be chosen at random. This month's giveaway is for your choice of one of three books: 1. Simply Grammar An Illustrated Primer by Karen Andreola This is an excellent grammar guide that follows the Charlotte Mason method. A broad range of grade levels can use this primer. I love the simple illustrations and simplicity of the lessons. A great addition to any homeschool bookshelf!
2. Western Civilization Volume I: To 1715 by Jackson J. Spielvogel, Sixth Edition This is a great history reference book, full of rich, colorful maps, illustrations, and photos. This book retailed for almost $70 new. It appears to be upper high school, college level material. I haven't read it all the way through, so I'm not completely sure of the content. A quick glance through the book for offensive material didn't raise any alarms. Full of interesting history facts for the history lover. This text is used in Tapestry of Grace's Rhetoric level for Year 1, I think. OR 3. Teaching and Learning America's Christian History Developed by Rosalie J. Slater. This text is part of the Noah Plan Principle Approach. It is red hardcover. In good condition, with lots of use left in it. Books are gently used. Simply Grammar and Teaching and Learning America's Christian History are in a little better condition than Western Civilization, but all have lots of use left in them. They are coming from a smoke free home, but we have outdoor pets (in case of allergies). Here are the rules: Oops! A fellow blogger brought up a great question about something I forgot to cover. Do you have to pay for shipping? NO! I want these books to be no-strings-attached gifts. I will pay to ship them media mail with delivery confirmation. You do not have to pay ANYTHING! :) 1. You must be 18 or older to enter. 2. You must live within the U.S. 3. Giveaway ends February 18, 2009. Winners will be chosen at random, and notified by email. If winner hasn't responded within one week, a new winner will be chosen. Be sure to check those spam boxes! 4. Please leave a comment and let me know which book you want to win! That way, I'll receive a comment notification and I'll enter you in the correct drawing. (Don't forget to give me your email address and/or link to your blog) 5. Winners will be announced by February 20. Then, a new contest or giveaway with at least two more books (or book sets) will be announced. It's going to be great fun! I would really appreciate it if you'd like to mention my giveaway on your blog and tell your friends. I'm sure I'll have something homeschooling families will like and can use! Remember - I'll be giving away at least two books or book sets a month until my bookshelves aren't overstuffed anymore! (Believe me, this could take several months to achieve!) Thanks for stopping by! I can't wait to read your comments! I'm looking forward to giving away lots of books, and meeting new friends! |
