5, 4, 3, 2, 1,.......I am soon to turn 40. YIKES!!!! How did that happen? No one knows for sure, but it is amazing that on Sunday, August 24 I will turn 40 years old. To be honest I am not upset or afraid of what's ahead of me. So many positive things have happened in the last couple of months that just turning 40 won't faze me one bit. In fact I am looking forward to it. The best present I could have ever gotten has already happened. I am officially a "whole" person and not considered a person suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder. This has been an exciting change; yet at the same time scary, but I am taking it all in stride. I started my online college classes yesterday and it will probably prove to be a very challenging semester. Beside home schooling 5 of my 7 kids, I am taking 2 classes for 2-8wk subterms this semester. Psychology Statistics in Learning, Social Problems, Intro to Biblical Counseling, and Biblical Counseling and women. The psychology class involves theories, which I am not too familiar with, but I think I will be able to catch on to what is expected. Already in my Sociology class we are talking about the abortion issue and the Christian faith. Steven's first soccer game is tonight, it's an away game. Gregg is able to go see him and took Christopher, but I stayed home with the other kids. Gas, tickets, and food for 8 people is just more than we can afford; so we are saving our pennies for when he has home games so we can all come. I am sure he will get a lot of playing time this year on the junior varsity team. He has improved by leaps and bounds in just a few short months. Sam is jumping up and down waiting for the computer; so I guess I will sign off. Simply pray for sanity these next few weeks as we get into a good routine. I would love to maintain my 3.8 gpa in my classes, but home schooling the kids has to come first. Blessings |

We are finally back into the swing of things here at Morning Starr Academy. Starting on Monday we began English and math only. I want to ease into school this year and not over-load us all right at the start. My online college classes begin on Monday the 18th and I am excited. We are getting in a very good schedule and it looks as if doing our loop schedule will be a good thing for all of us. I am so glad I started the Yahoo Group to keep me accountable, it has helped me a lot. This year our curriculum choices are: Sonlight Core 3 and 1 Civil War unit study for my oldest Rod & Staff English for everyone Horizons, Saxon, and Teaching Textbooks math Latin for Children "A" IEW writing Apologia General Science Spelling Workout Wordly Wise 3000 Apples Spelling Introductory Logic Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading First Language Lessons I think that is about it, although I am sure there is more that I am overlooking. Next week we are adding to our schedule Core 3 history, spelling, vocabulary, and handwriting. I am hoping we can still get it all in within our loop schedule. We made big changes to our start times because of doing a paper route. We now start school as soon as we get home at 6 and are done before lunch. It has really been a good thing overall. |

Well, at least my public schooled kids are out as of 1:30 this afternoon. I know they are relieved, but I am wondering if I am more relieved. We have been on three different ps schedules this year, plus our hsing schedule. It has been hard. I have missed school parties, sporting events, and sleep this year. Although, I know that the Lord led us to put some of our kids in school it hasn't been easy and it's been a big adjustment for our family. It's been raining all morning, which makes for a soggy homecoming to my kids as they get off the bus. I was hoping for a beautiful sunny day so we could enjoy being outside. Instead we are headed off to the library once everyone gets home. I need some time away from home as much as they do. I have done nothing today as far as cleaning the house or doing laundry. So much for staying on schedule for Brooke's open house on Sunday. OH Well!!! I am sure things will go smoother than I anticipate just as they always do. |
