School's In Session

We are finally back into the swing of things here at Morning Starr Academy. Starting on Monday we began English and math only. I want to ease into school this year and not over-load us all right at the start. My online college classes begin on Monday the 18th and I am excited. We are getting in a very good schedule and it looks as if doing our loop schedule will be a good thing for all of us. I am so glad I started the Yahoo Group to keep me accountable, it has helped me a lot. This year our curriculum choices are: Sonlight Core 3 and 1 Civil War unit study for my oldest Rod & Staff English for everyone Horizons, Saxon, and Teaching Textbooks math Latin for Children "A" IEW writing Apologia General Science Spelling Workout Wordly Wise 3000 Apples Spelling Introductory Logic Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading First Language Lessons I think that is about it, although I am sure there is more that I am overlooking. Next week we are adding to our schedule Core 3 history, spelling, vocabulary, and handwriting. I am hoping we can still get it all in within our loop schedule. We made big changes to our start times because of doing a paper route. We now start school as soon as we get home at 6 and are done before lunch. It has really been a good thing overall. |
