Aug. 1, 2008 - Reluctant Reader
I had a reluctant reader. He is 9 years old and just did not like to read. I tried every type of book and every topic I could think might interest him. Nothing worked.
Well, in July we started Sonlight Core 3 - the first part of American History. On box day my son actually picked up a couple of the readers and one of the read alouds and started reading! Over the last month he has been doing a lot more reading.
I am very excited. I love to read, my 6 year old daughter loves to read and now my son is willing to read. I'm not going to say he loves it, yet, but he does it and he doesn't complain. YEAH!

May. 17, 2008 - Kids you've got to love them
These are my five presious children and the reason this blogging thing just may not work out for me. I had really good intentions when I started this blog and I don't want to give up on them yet, but every time I sit down to post, something comes up. If I try to wait until the kids are in bed for the night, then I am either too tired or I have a pile of clothes that need folding.
Spreaking of clothes, I never realized how many outfits kids can go through in a day. If my Mom was still living I would sincerely apologize to her, even though there were just two of us. LOL I don't seem to have a problem getting clothes washed and dried, it is getting them folded and into the kids drawers. The two older kids are supposed to put away their own clothes and for the most part they do, though it makes me cringe everytime I see what became of my nicely folded clothes.
I know that by 6 and 9 they should be folding their own clothes, but I'm one of those horrible people who think, "If I want it done right, I should just do it myself." I would love for the kids to take care of their own clothes. I just need to get over myself and let them do it. I know that if I have them fold clothes with me they will eventually learn. Oh, to be a mother. It is what I always wanted to be. Now I sometimes wonder what I was thinking!
Though I have to be honest and say that when I was dreaming of being a wife and mother, I knew nothing about homeschooling and I thought 2 kids was the perfect number. The Lord has changed my mind and hear, I am truly greatful. I can't imagine life without my 5 J's. Now I just have to learn to be a better releaser of work.

Apr. 3, 2008 - My First Day
I just have time enough to set up this blog and say hi. We are in the middle of testing this week, so I need to get busy. My hope for this blog is that I will be able to keep family and friends updated on our day to day lives.
Off to school now.
