IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE

Mar. 28, 2006 - New here :)
Posted in Miscellaneous

Hi!  I am brand new here!  And brand new at HS'ing as well.  We are prayerfully considering HS'ing our 9&12 yr old next school year, but in the meantime I am going to start now with our 4 yr old with preschooling.  I am already doing some generic things with him but I want to kick it into gear soon.  I welcome any and all input in that :)

I am Melody, sahm to 3 boys Cody 12-adhd, Jordan 9-spina bifida/hydrocephalus-adhd, and John 4-speech delayed.  My husband is Danny.  We live in SE Missouri, and attend the best church in the world .  I am completely sold on HS'ing but hubby is not so sure yet.  God will change his mind if that is where and what we are to be doing.  I will put my old blogger blog in my links (when I figure out how lol) and you can feel free to look back the last 2 mos of entries there if you are so inclined.  Also in our household right now is my 19 yr old stepson who is fixing to graduate and my mother (temporarily).  We have 2 dogs (one's my moms lol) and 3 cats (one's expectant ack) and a tank full of fish.  Oh cant leave out the numerous dust bunnies!  I very much look forward to posting here and making and meeting new friends!  xoxo melzie

Mar. 29, 2006 - preschool

Well, you said it, "I welcome any and all input in that"...I'd just like to share that when kids are little, it's ok to take it easy. I began teaching my son a little less than a year ago, and have found that he already knows so much! (He had just turned five when we started) Don't feel bad when you miss a day, your child will not hurt by it. DOn't feel stressed abou tit! It's only preschool! I understand you are kind of "practising" on your preschooler, but I don't thinkit's even nessecary to have a full blown curriculum for a 4 year old.
I say all this because I have a friend from church who was teaching her four year old, and she felt so guilty that they wern't getting to their lessons every day. The child was only four! Some weeks you'll miss lessons, and some weeks you breeze through 2 or 3 because your child gets it so quick!
All this to say, *Don't Stress*
(I wanted to show you that I'm new to blogging, too, but their isn't anywhere to place my link- so I am shamelessly writing out the hyperlink...sorry!)

Apr. 4, 2006 - MO, homeschooling et al.
Posted by Pam in Colorado
Where in MO do you live??? I used to live in Gainesville and West Plains. Wish I lived nearby, I would come on over and welcome you to homeschooling! This is the end of our 8th year? or 7th? I can't remember. My oldest is graduating, I have two boys who are finishing their Freshman year and two little girls who are Kindergarten and 1st grade.

Each year is new, different and much the same. Seek information and insight and then be sure to have that tunnel vision for what God is directing for you and your children. Everyone has an opinion, most are good. Everyone has something they love or hate and it usually changes along the way. Less is more in my very biased opinion and I love to discuss just about everything so don't be shy in asking.

By the way, which telethon was your son participating in?? I used to do a lot of stuff for Easter Seals (telethons, I worked at an Easter Seal camp....) Just wondering.
