Another Accident

I am, again, coveting prayers for my family.

Abbie was out four wheeling with her dad last night and hit a tree.  She broke 2 bones in her left arm.  She is left handed, so it will be a tough 30 days with her cast.  Please pray for comfort for her as her arm heals.

Update on Malakai:
We have a PRAISE report!  I had been very concerned about the tops of Kai's hands, closest to his fingers.  He was able to fit his fingers under the bandages to touch his burns, and I was constantly reminding him, "Don't touch your owies".  The night before last I was really stressed out about it, worrying about infection.  I prayed for his hands, that he would not get an infection.  Yesterday morning, when he woke up, the tops of his palms had new, pink skin on them.  The blistering burns are no longer as easy to reach and Kai has not been touching them.
He did forget that his hands hurt yesterday and fell (purposely) onto the living room rug with his palms down.  He tore away some of the skin on his hands because the bandaging was pulled away from his hands.  (He cried.  It was the first time he's cried in pain since the night he was burned)  I called our doctor and she said that it should not prolong his healing process.  She will look at his hands again today when I take him in to have his bandages changed.

Health Update:
Ayden has a double ear infection and is on antibiotics, he is feeling a bit better today.  My antibiotics for Mastitis are working and I am feeling better, as well.

My parents will be coming out later this morning to help me.  I am so thankful!  Abbie and I didn't get much sleep last night, and I have to take her and Malakai to the clinic later today.  (Kai needs his bandages changed and Abbie needs her cast checked.)

Thank you for your continued prayers.
I will post photos of Abbie's cast and Kai's "boxing glubs" soon.

Prayers Please!!

Malakai, my three year old, had a terrible accident this weekend while we were camping.

The kids were playing outside and Kai tripped, falling onto our hot, closed grill with the palms of his hands.   He has second degree burns on both palms - his right palm is completely affected, about 1/3 of his left palm is affected.  We took him, along with the other 6 Little Eblings, to the emergency room.  The nurses gave him 2 shots of Morphine, soaked his hands in cold water, cut away the burnt skin, applied silver sulfadizene ointment, and wrapped his hands in gauze.  He is such a trooper.  He says he's wearing "boxing glubs".  He has pain medication for at home.  He will be going to our home clinic every day to have his dressings changed.  (I called our family doctor at home this morning - she is a total doll - and asked if she'd be willing to change his dressings.  I just don't know if I could do it.)

Please be in prayer for our Malakai.

Also, Ayden, our 6 month old, is running a fever tonight and I have mastitis.  Please pray for complete healing for our family.

Thank you so much!

Daybook Entry for June 19th

Posted in The Simple Woman's Daybook

My Journal Entry for Today,
June 19th

Outside my Window...is my camper, reminding me that I have to pack it up for our camping trip this weekend.

I am thinking...my morning is almost over and I am still in my pajamas.

I am thankful for...Pledge multi-surface cleaner.

From the kitchen...there are too many canned goods and not enough cupboard space.  (What a blessing!)

I am creating...lesson plans for my kids.

I am going...camping on Friday.

I am wearing...pink flannel jammie pants and Adrian's t-shirt.

I am reading..."Shepherding Your Child's Heart"

I am hoping...that an industrial buyer will be interested in our home and land.

I am hearing...semi trucks driving down the highway in front of my house.

Around the house...there is a lot of cleaning to be done, floors to be washed, laundry to be folded, and packing to be done.

One of my favorite things...is snuggling wee ones.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...pack the camper, start packing the kids' bedrooms, continue with homeschool lesson plans, make some time to visit with friends, and spend some time with Adrian.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Out of the Storm

The kids and I went to my nephew's graduation party on Saturday -- it was great fun, with lots of family and friends to play with.
As we were piling into our truck to go home, the wind started blowing and little hail pellets poured out of the sky.  We quickly got into our seats and buckled our seatbelts.  We could see that the sky was clear toward our home, so we wanted to start heading that direction.
The storm seemed to gather right above us - dark clouds with lightning flashing.
When, at last, we were on the other side of the storm, Ike commented:
"Mom, look at the beautiful sunset in front of us."
I looked and, right in front of us, was the prettiest sunset I have seen in a long time.
"Isn't it like our lives, Momma?", he said.  "We start out dark sinners, like the storm, then go on and move into the light with Jesus."

Thank you, Jesus, that my kids know You.

Before I was a Mom

My aunt sent me this sweet poem:

Before I was a Mom
Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Thank you, Auntie Karen, for reminding me of what I was missing...before I was a Mom.
