No I didn't put this there after he fell asleep.  We found him this way. 

Earlier I'd given him a warm tea bag to place on his eye.  He said he thought he was getting a scratch in his eye which was "Brayden-talk" for "I think you should give me a wet tea bag". 

Last year he had a nasty looking sty on his eyelid around bedtime and we used warm tea bags to relieve some of the discomfort (I found this tip on the internet) until we could arrange more medical type help in the morning.  Amazingly enough, by morning the sty was very much improved and needed no further assistance so the tea bag worked a treat.  Brayden very much liked his unique medicine and everytime his eye feels any way other than normal he insists on his wet warm tea bag. 

So finding our little man in bed with his soothing tea bag is not all that uncommon in our home.
