Don't they scrub up nicely.

Originally the plan was for the boys to walk down the aisle and then come and sit in the pews with me. At the rehearsal we found out that the priest had other plans. He wanted the boys to stand up with the wedding party for the duration of the service...on the altar steps!! Mothers of boys understand my panic attack at the thought of such a thing. Stand still, quietly, in the same spot and with a potential missile-type object in their hands!! I lost a LOT of sleep the night before the wedding.

After all my anxiety over the moment, the boys walked beautifully down the aisle and they were pretty good on the altar too...although I was a little blue in the face from holding my breath.

This is my sister and my new brother-in-law.

In addition to all the altar plans that were sprung on me, the priest also wanted the boys to sign their names on the Certificate of Marriage along with everyone else in the wedding party. For Ethan this would be easy, but Brayden couldn't write his name yet. So overnight we had emergency name writing lessons. It turned out that he could actually spell his name when prompted and given an important reason to do so. However it did take him a little while to write it nicely on the day. The guests were most amused at how long it took and the look of concentration on his face.

Don't they just look so angelic.

Butter wouldn't melt in their mouths.

They were even half cooperative for the photographers but it did use up every ounce of self-control in them.

By the end of the family photos after the ceremony the boys were teetering on the edge of their limits.
Thankfully they didn't have to join the wedding party at the photo shoot at the gardens.
Why are they sitting on their daddy's shoes you ask? Because they were told not to sit on the ground. They figured that shoes weren't the ground and plonked themselves down for a little rest and refreshment between photos.

The boys were REALLY good at the reception. They sat nicely and amused themselves quietly during the meal and speeches.
Once the dancing and LOUD music started, I loosened their restrictions a little and allowed them to leave the table. They held each others' hands and headed for the dance floor. It was too cute. I
thought they wanted to dance so I went to ask them if they would like me to set up a little dance partner for them. A little girl (almost 3 years old) had earlier told me that she wanted to find a prince to dance with and that her audience had to clap as they danced. I would happily allow my princes to dance with this little princess HOWEVER my
princes informed me that they most definitely didn't want to dance. They just wanted to play dodgem cars through the dancing people. Boys!!
So they spent their evening playing dodgem cars on the dance floor.

Around midnight my handsome little dodgem cars looked tattered and spent. Okay...they didn't exactly look "spent", they looked wired... to keep me awake ALL night.
The next day Ethan told me that Lisa's wedding was the best day of his life because he got to stay awake nearly all night!! Gosh, doesn't take much to make a day special for a little man.
