Yes, you read that correctly - I made a swimsuit! For my daughter P.7.G. Searching for a modest swimsuit has just gotten to be too much stress in the last few years. Because of her shape, she is very long, and everything comes down too low in the neckline, or I have to buy it big and then take it up everywhere else. This year, I decided that I was just going to start from scratch. There are several makers of modest swimsuits out there - as well as a few patterns. I found this one - www.modest-swimwear.net and loved the features. P.7.G. likes the sleeves - I even offered to make it in a tank style, but she didn't want it that way! LOL Plus, this will keep her shoulders from becoming burned as easily. I loved the skirt, because it covers up her bottom. The shorts are VERY COOL because she can go to the restroom easily!!! Can I hear an "Amen"?!! The bodice is lined with self fabric. I have a serger, so I zipped this up quite easily!!! No cheeks hanging out on this suit!! Yea!!!
Plus, it is flattering, yet modest. It doesn't look weird, it looks trendy with the fabric and fun! It's light, so it isn't going to get hung up in the water.
I shortened the shorts, because I, personally, don't like anything over my knee in the water. It's some sort of phobia I have, I guess! LOL Therefore, I shortened the skirt a bit, so that you could see the shorts. I think this is a nice, modest, God honoring swimsuit.
I was scared to work with the Lycra, and put it off. But it is was so easy and didn't slip at all. I'm making one for myself next. I'll likely leave the skirt the same length and possibly just shorten the shorts to go over my knee.
I got this fabric from ebay - just search Lycra and you will find some great deals!!! Shipping included, I paid $7 per yard.
So, here are the pics:

She's doing the "diving" pose! LOL

This is a close-up of the fabric. Got it on ebay for a total of $7 per yard including shipping! This size (8) takes 1 1/2 yards.
