I have been totally inspired by a blogger's post. This is a AR (Above Rubies) lady and I was browsing through the recent posts on AR, when I saw the subject "my Laundry Revelation". Ha, I knew I had to read it.
See, I struggle with laundry - BAD!! It piles up so fast. There are 6 of us, and we go through a lot of laundry.
I'm going to give this a shot with a couple of modifications. Of course, I'll run this all by DH when he gets up. We'll see what he thinks. As long as the stuff gets done, I'm sure he'd be a happy camper! LOL
Here are my mods:
3 outfits each
2 jammies each
6 pairs socks
6 underwear
3 nice outfits (only to be worn on Sundays or special occasions)
1 extra pair of pants
The real problem is at Christmas, when everyone starts getting new clothes. I wish someone would give me new clothes! LOL This just may revolutionize my laundry piles - they are ever growing!! We may even be able to get back to our cloth diapers, as I so desire! The $80 a month in diapers is killing me!! We are potty training B.2.5.B. So that just leaves one in diapers.
Anyway - check out the great post here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/purityseekers/250732/
Dec. 7, 2006 - Thank you!
Hi!!! It's nice to meet you!!!! And thank you for the great comment about my laundry post and the link so others can find it!!! I have been keeping track of the laundy loads I do this week so I can do a "laundry revelation update" post! hehe I have to say that the 2 outfits is perfect because, to be honest, on the days we are just home (which is lots since I homeschool and don't get out with the kids very often) they only use ONE!! I wash the outfit they wore as soon as they are all in their jammies for the night... and they are dried before I go to bed! I fold them and put them on the couch for the kids to grab when they get up. They really could care less about the fact its the same thing they wore the day before. It helps to keep them focused on the fact that clothes are just for covering our bodies and as long as they are clean... who cares if it's the same darn outfit! hehe It's a good lesson on not having to "fit in" and have the coolest clothes. It's a lot easier since I homeschool and they don't have to deal with peer pressure and all.
As far as church clothes... yup... they are in the closet all ready to grab on Sunday morning! And I will be rotating outfits only if they get a stain or something. BUT speaking of stains... I am on those clothes so fast I don't think they'll have time to permanently stain! My daughter DID get some marker on a white shirt so I have to trade that one until I get it Clorox Bleach sticked! (it wasn't a washable marker... she likes to use the dry erase board!! ugh haha)
So... I am so thankful that I am encouraging some women with my ideas!! I just struggled for SO long and am glad I finally figured out something that works! I'll add you to my friends list! I can't wait to get to know you better!! :-) Bridget

I always try to have extra underwear and socks for my children...
The trouble comes when we have a trip out of town like camping and cannot do laundry during the trip. I have been known to have to go buy socks, underwear and p.js on camping trips and while we were on a disney vacation!
