So, in regards to this tree fiasco, Kris couldn't call in to work at all this week. His team now has four people (he's moving up into an advanced engineering position though, so he'll no longer be on that team), has two people on vacation and one guy (Kris' replacement) who is brand new, and he doesn't want to leave obligations hanging unless it's a life or death emergency. So, since i can't really take care of the mess myself, I just distracted myself all week from it lol! We did some geocaching and went to friends' houses, it was nice. Brothers and sisters from church called to offer help and give encouragement to, which was so wonderful. Now, tomorrow we have to deal with the mess out there, it's overwhelming. WIth the storms and possible tornado that came through parts of NH yesterday though, I am grateful that all we are dealing with is a mess and not something worse. We were actually out geocaching when the storm hit yesterday, so that was extremely scary. On the ride home there was MAJOR road flooding, I saw some cars so deep in water they were stalled and I'm sure the interior ruined. I kept seeing people in small cars trying to drive through the flooding, I wasn't so brave (stupid?) and kept changing my route to avoid the flooding. For the first time I used my four wheel drive on my Jeep though, loved it! Than I came home to turn on the news to find out there were houses levelled by trees in the state and a state of emergency had already been declared. Oh, I was using Kris' laptop bag while geocaching to carry our stuff, my hiking pack was wet so I didn't want to take it. Turns out the laptop bag isn't waterproof and my cell phone got soaked. It's working on and off, but I'm leaving the battery out for now until it seems to be completely dry, I don't want to short circuit anything if it isn't already. So, if you need to contact me today, email is best!
My glasses prescription still isn't correct. I had to go on Tuesday and the eye doctor said it was too low in my right eye, he said my astigmatism is even worse than he thought lol. So the right was corrected, but now I can't see out of my left too well. Mostly, it's depth perception that is off, which is highly annoying! Hopefully today is the last time it gets adjusted, while they are making my glasses I don't have a back up since my reason for getting new ones was because my last ones lost a lens, so I have to keep the kids busy for an hour without my glasses, which is interesting. Obviously, I can't drive, so I try to stay in the little plaza area and let the kids be my eyes, which I'm sure they love since they get to decide where we eat and what we do!
I think I'm a little addicted to geocaching, which is odd because normally I'm not that much of a goal oriented person, nor am I competitive, but I love doing this! Basically, a few weeks ago, Kris' parents upgraded their GPS and we recieved their old one. I had read about geocaching in a hiking book once, didn't really understand it, but went online and read about it. I was going to wait for Kris before trying it, but decided to go for it on my own. I also went to the library and took out every book about GPS and geocaching they had, and have been busy reading those over the couple of weeks. The kids love doing it to, it's a blast! Now when I want to go for a nature walk or hike, they have something fun to do while we do these things. I can't wait until the house is cleaned of all the debri and Kris can come out with us, so far he doesn't seem overly excited about the idea of it. It's amazing how many caches there are, I was trying to think of a place to put one, but every single place I have thought of already has at least one. Even my favorite hike, Catamount HIll, has three!
I'm going out with my friend today, so gotta go! Have a great weekend, and God Bless!
In support of Ed's (Kris' brother) mission to rebuild Iraq, Di (my sister in law) and some other Army spouses have started a fundraiser to buy and ship school supplies for the Iraqi school children. A donation of even the smallest amount will make a difference, I have seen some pictures and these children are the poorest of the poor, they have nothing. Also, my sister in law mentioned that if you leave your email address, you will be able to recieve a "thank you" with a picture.
School supplies (and other provisions) can also be mailed directly to Ed, just make sure to mark "school supplies" on the box. Please email me and I will forward you the address noahsmommie@hotmail.com
Here is a list of items needed:
School Supplies (backpacks, folders, paper, pencils, sharpener, etc)
On Friday, Abigail was lost at the mall. I was making a return at Radio Crap and thought she was behind me, when I turned around she was nowhere to be found. I was freaking of course, but luckily a lady spotted her by herself and brought her over to us while I was talking to the security guards. Definitely the one of the scariest moments I've ever experienced, if not the scariest.
Than, Saturday morning at 2am we had a horrendous lightning storm which struck THREE trees on our property. The whole South side of Manchester looks like a tornado came through. Two massive, hundred year old trees, fell on our porches and barracaded us in. Abigail came into my room at five am to tell me a "log" fell on the porch and Noah said "you aren't going to be happy about this"lol! Luckily, with the help of my Dad and cousin we were able to remove the trees, THANK YOU SO MUCH DAD AND RYAN! The debri is going to take weeks to clean up. It was a miracle the trees didn't fall on the house or cause any damage though. According to my neighbors, this is very very common and one of them has had trees fall on her house twice. Great. Sometimes I hate this house.
Last night as I was putting my glasses away I felt a lens pop out (it was dark in my room and the kids were sleeping in there since they were afraid from the storm the night before, so I didn't want to turn on the light and wake them), I assumed it fell in the drawer I was putting them in. I was seriously falling asleep standing up so I just climbed into bed thinking all was well. This morning when I went to put my glasses on the lens was not in the drawer, or anywhere to be found. I have no idea how something like that could have disappeared, unless Cruiser ate it, which honestly would not surprise me. I can't see without my glasses, so had to get an appointment today and drop the money for Lenscrafters, ugh. At least my new glasses are cool, Noah said I look like a teenager which is the best compliment ever! Oh, and to top off all the great luck I've been having, the eye doctor informed me that my astigmatism is so bad I can never wear contact lenses, or I could but I wouldn't be able to see clearly. So I'm a glasses geek forever...sigh.
Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any prayers right now. My anxiety level is through the roof at the moment, maybe it's time to talk to a doctor about it afterall...
