Many thanks to Mrs. Marlow for making this graphic for me. Feel free to use it when you post your Hymn Monday.
It is time for Hymn Monday again.
Hymn Monday is where every Monday I will post about a hymn. I am going to try to play this hymn on the piano (or for you whatever instrument you play) during the week. Anyone who wants is welcome to join me, even if you can't play an instrument. Feel free to leave me a comment if you need help understanding how to do it.
This week I am going to talk about O to Be Like Thee. I have been playing it for a while and haven't written about it because... well I might as well admit it, I have been lazy, and busy though.
I have really been convicted by this song.
"O to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear."
We often just sing this song but we don't mean it. Is it really our "constant longing and prayer"? Are we really willing to forfeit all earth's treasures?
What another verse.
"O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save."
"Lowly in spirit"???? We aren't very lowly in spirit. All we think about is ourselves. Are we "willing to suffer others to save"?
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will play mine and I hope that you play yours as well.
Please join me in talking about your favorite hymns. But please if you do join sign Mr. Linky so I can find your post. Thank you!
Have a great week praising the Lord! |

This week I am going to talk about Praise to the Lord the Almighty. First I would like to refer you to my earlier post that discusses the same topic. You can read it here.
This week especially we need to realize that no matter what happens, God should be praised.
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will play mine and I hope that you play yours as well.

This week I am going to talk about Come, Christians, Join to Sing. This hymn talks about one of my favorite things to do. Singing! How good God is to give us such a wonderful way of praising him.
"Come, Christians, join to sing"
I don't know if you ever noticed but singing with someone can kind of bring you together. I love it when my sister sits down at the piano and we sing together.
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will play mine and I hope that you play yours as well.

This week I am going to talk about He Leadeth Me. I first learned this hymn in BSF (Bible Study F something)
I really like this hymn. It was taken from Psalm 23:1-3 “He leadeth me beside still waters, He restoreth my soul.”
I don't really have much more to say. The hymn says it all!
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will play mine and I hope that you play yours as well.

This week I am going to talk about How Firm a Foundation. Cyber Hymnal has a lot more of the verses than my hymnal does.
I am sorry but I don't have much time to talk about this, and to tell the truth I can't think of anything to say. So I am going to leave the talking to you. (Even though nobody ever does my Hymn Monday) /Sigh
So I am going to ask if anyone reads my Hymn Mondays and just can't or doesn't want to join me in it, please take a few moments out of your busy schedule and just leave me a comment telling me that you at least read what I write. Thanks!
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will play mine and I hope that you play yours as well.

I finally am going to start Hymn Monday again.
This week I am going to talk about Because He Lives. The text for this hymn is not available, but it should be in your hymnal. This hymn was written by Bill and Gloria Gaither and is very encouraging for someone who is going through a tough time.
I did find a video of the Gaithers singing the song. You can find it here.
Whenever I am having a hard day I like to sing this song to myself, knowing that "because He lives I can face tomorrow." I am going to learn to play it this week.
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will play mine and I hope that you play yours as well.

My hymn this week is The Old Rugged Cross. I will not be able to play my hymn this week because my piano lessons have been canceled for a few weeks and I am already working on 3 hymns. I do not need 4. Therefore I am choosing a hymn that I already know how to play.
This was the first hymn I ever learned to play so it is kind of special to me. This hymn basically says it all. Pretty much the whole gospel is included in its verses.
Well that is my hymn for the week!

My hymn this week is Shall We Gather at the River. This encouraging hymn talks about heaven.
I love this hymn's tune and will enjoy learning to play it.
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will practice it this week and I hope you will practice yours.

My hymn this week is I am Bound for the Promised Land. (Some places call it On Jordans Stormy Banks I Stand.) I first heard this hymn a few years ago when my brother decided to play it. I have liked it ever since.
I love this hymns pretty tune and will enjoy learning to play it. I like to sing the words as I play and try to listen to what they say.
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will practice it this week and I hope you will practice yours.

This week I am going to talk about Saved by Grace. This beautiful and encouraging hymn was written by one of my favorite hymn writers, Fanny Crosby.
Ever since I first heard this hymn I have always loved it beautiful tune and wonderful words.
Did you know that Fanny Crosby wrote over 8,000 hymns? She also used a lot of different pseudonyms. If you go here and scroll down you can view a list of her pseudonyms.
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will practice it this week and I hope you will practice yours.

I am sorry that this is late but we drove back from DC today. I am hoping to post some about the trip some later. I am hoping to get Hymn Monday back on schedule next week.
This week I am going to talk about Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus. I thought that this would be a good hymn because our country seems to be deteriorating and the best thing to do is to "turn our eyes on Jesus."
This beautiful and encouraging hymn was written by Helen H. Lemmel, a Methodist minister's daughter. I especially like the verse:
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace."
Well that is my hymn for the week! I will practice it this week and I hope you will practice yours.

I am so sorry this is late. I am on my trip and forgot about it. So this Hymn Monday will be a little late.
This week I am going to talk about Take my Life and Let it Be. Since I am on a trip and cannot practice I am doing one that I have been playing over the last week for my piano lesson. I am pressed for time so I can't talk much about it. Sorry. So I hope you will make up where I am lacking.
But please if you do join sign Mr. Linky so I can find your post. Thank you!
