I decided I'm not going to wait ilke weeks before I post again...:)
Today I want to share a couple things I've written in my journal over the past few weeks....
--------------------------------
I have to write some things down that Debbie told me at like horse camp that I thought would never happen...
To take time getting on Bill because the more specific I am with where I want him, the less I'll have to tell him later on and eventually he will just stand there and wait...
And now like 6 months late, I hardly have any problems with getting on him and most of the time he stays pretty still while I get on his back. :)
The more I show Bill how "big" I can get and the more effective my phase 4 is in the beginning (For those of you who don't know what phase 4 is, there are 4 phases when asking a horse to do something. 1 is very light, 2 is a little harder, 3 is harder and 4 is the "biggest" and hardest) the lighter I'll have to be as I progress and learn more...
I can now do the yo-yo game (Click here to learn what the yo-yo game is) at a phase 1 intead of 4!! It's amazing how far I've come in just 6 months.
This is the best part about it...I saved the best for last lol (really, in my journal I did too)
When I first started working with Bill at horse camp, I often got frustrated, thinking, "Why would Debbie give me this horse??? I'm a beginner!" Because nobody worked with him and he was hard!
But Debbie gave me the PERFECT horse; no other one could've been better! I've learned to be more confident, not give up so quickly, don't be so negative, and that I CAN do all things through Christ! And I can't give up so quickly, thinking those negative thoughts, "I'm so stupid!! Why can't I ever do ANYthing right?? I can't do this, it's too hard! Arrggghh WHY do I have to have Bill??" I didn't think I could handle such a challenge as Bill-but look! I made it! I'm never done learning new things to do with him or things about him, but done saying "I can't" or "It's too hard".
I now know WHY Debbie chose this horse for me...
-----------------------------------
SO. That's that. :)
The years are flying by SO fast. I can't believe it's almost 2010, and there are sooooooo many things that have just flown by like that! I remember when my best friend got blood clots in her lungs and that was already 2 years ago. I just simply cannot believe it. I was only 13 then, and that seems like it was just yesterday, yet it seems so long ago.
Oh and in case anyone is wondering...this is really weird so beware. But we don't celebrate Christmas with the whole presents, trees, lights, etc stuff...it's definitely weird I know. I mean of course we believe Jesus was born and Jesus is God's son and all that...wanna know more and you'll have to talk to my parents about that. :) :) But we are going to my grandma's house for Christmas Eve because my grandparents got a divorce this past summer, my grandpa moved to Texas, and my cousin is coming home from the Navy. And my grandma can't say no to presents so we still get presents from her. :)
I hope everyone has a great week. (just so everyone knows, it feels really weird not saying Merry Christmas like everyone else. I feel like this big [as big as these words]) I thought you guys might wanna know that.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year?

Here are some little known (or maybe unknown) facts that are not paid much attention to (I didn't just write this up on my own - I was looking on the internet and such, I can't not take all the credit on having these ideas ).
How Christmas got started: It did not start out with Jesus being born in the manger or Santa Claus giving gifts. It was actually a pagan holiday of worshiping the sun!
Gift Giving: We may say we're following what the wise men did or after God's Gift to us - but we're giving them to each other - not to Jesus.
The Christmas Tree: Jeremiah 10:2-5 "Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must not go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good." I also read that the wreath was used to decorate the buildings for worship.
Then, I and most people just think that they're making it into a Christian holiday now, so it's ok. But check out a few more verses.. Matthew 15:9 "In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Mark 7:9 "Full well lye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
The Candy Cane Legend
Look at the Candy Cane
What do you see?
Stripes that are red
Like the blood shed for me
White is for my Savior
Who's sinless and pure!
"J" is for Jesus, My Lord, that's for sure!
Turn it around
And a staff you will see
Jesus my shepherd
Was born for Me!
(Finally, something Christmas started as Christian!!)
Well, with all that startling news (and only two days until Christmas ), how shall we end this? Well, I read something in a magazine that was talking on the same thing, that I sort of liked. It went something like this... If you feel that you should not do Christmas, then don't. But don't treat badly the ones that do.
Well, have a very Merry Christmas!! We're planning to have family over at our house both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but there is also supposed to be a big snow storm starting tomorrow night, I sure hope that doesn't affect to many things!!!
"Gentle as a dove". We have all heard that saying. While I cannot stand the sound of doves, I know that they are extremely loyal and gentle creatures. I am not a gentle person by nature. I don't have a syrupy voice, my hands aren't soft and dainty, I am not petite and tiny. Physically I do not look gentle, and sometimes my spirit isn't gentle either. Actually... lately, I haven't been gentle at all, and Mom has had to get on to me about being gentler. I really need to like memorize:
Proverbs 15:1 A gentle response deflects fury, but a harsh word makes tempers rise.
I've come to realize most of the time I do not answer gently. That is not good. I have been thinking lately about being gentle. I am going to be a mama soon and I want to be so gentle and loving to my sweeties. I don't want to raise my voice at them and be harsh. I don't want to be harsh to them, I want to be gentle.
Gentleness is not only a physical attribute, but a spiritual and behavior attribute. It also shows others that we are chosen of God.
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with feelings of compassion and with kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
I want everything I do to show that I am a child of God and that its Him they see, not me. When I am harsh to anyone, I am not showing them the gentleness of our loving God. If you are a believer and follower of Christ, then you must be gentle to everyone!
2 Timothy 2:24-26 And a slave of the Lord shouldn't fight. On the contrary, he should be kind to everyone, a good teacher, and not resentful when mistreated. Also he should be gentle as he corrects his opponents. For God may perhaps grant them the opportunity to turn from their sins, acquire full knowledge of the truth, come to their senses and escape the trap of the Adversary, after having been captured alive by him to do his will.
We are supposed to be gentle, kind and inclined to teach others. By doing those things we show everyone how they can be brought out of the snare of satan and into the hand of God. When we are gentle physically we cause others to be gentle. When I am harsh to someone, I get harshness back and then I want to return the harshness. It is a vicious cycle. When someone is harsh, show gentleness to them and you will show gentleness.
Titus 3:2 To slander no one, to avoid quarreling, to be friendly, and to behave gently towards everyone .
Being gentle is holding your temper when you want to be harsh to someone, being gentle is biting your tongue when you want to yell at your sibling, being gentle is being tender. I am trying to be more gentle in the way I talk, act, behave, and carry myself. I want to be gentle. Jesus was gentle. He spake softly and was very gentle with everyone He came in contact with. I want to be like my Savior and I want to be gentle!
Ephesians 4:2 Always be humble, gentle and patient, bearing with one another in love.
And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to Thy holy name, and glory in Thy praise.~ 1 Chronicles 16:35
Welcome to Orchard Slope!
I am a 15 year old homeschooled Christian girl. I LOVE my Savior above everything, and I want to live for Him! Some other things I enjoy are reading, blogging, card-making, having fun, animals, old-fashioned and vintage things, being with friends, writing, and photography. I love taking pictures! You will see a lot of them here. Also, the Anne of Green Gables series is one of my favorite book series, and it inspired my template. I hope you enjoy your stay at Orchard Slope and be sure to leave a comment before you leave! :)
