Christopher loves to take off his shoes whenever he gets in the carseat. We haven't made a discipline issue of it, but I did tell him a story the other day about two socks who liked to jump off the toes who were wearing them every time they got in the car. They had sooo much fun every time, but one day, the socks fell out on to the road, as their boy's toes were getting out of the car. At first it was fun, but soon it became dark. And Cold. And wet. And other cars ran over them. "STOP!" They would shout, but the cars would never listen. The next day, the toes missed their socks, so the boy came to find them, and after that, they never left those friendly toes again!
Although I enjoyed making up the story, I knew it was a failure when I looked back, and not only were Christopher's shoes off, but his toes were bare as newborn baby's bottom!
I teased him, "Christopher, your socks will be so sad to be away from your toes!"
He looked worried and concerned. After a moment's meditation, he declared, "Socks can't be sad!"
"Why not?" I queried.
He parried triumphantly, "Because they don't have a mouf!" (mouth). |

WHY oh why do they have to take their socks and shoes off in the car??? I've gotten to where I don't even bother putting the shoes and socks on them until we get where we're going. LOL.
