We are off to gym today, Joey, Noah and I, Josh and Paul are doing the Lego class. Paul is feeling terribly under the weather (a nasty cold) and he really needs Josh's help today. I realized I didn't blog about yesterdays activities. Not much to report really. Reading: 2 chapters Archiemedes and the Door to Science. Only 2 chapters left and one writing assignment from this book from Bravewriter Arrow but that will be next week. Josh said he really is enjoying this book. I need to hit the www.livingmath.net website and look for some more books. I also need to check out the Murderous Math series. I've heard tremendous things about it for years and we have never got to that series so that might be a good one to hit next. Writing: Handwriting with out the Tears - verbs - present, past and future tenses - 2 pages. Josh is pretty behind in his writing workbook because we've done other writing this year (hurrah). I do want him to finish the book though not so much for the writing practice which is great but because he's covering off so many grammar topics it's a great "gap" filler. Math: Finished our Geometry Unit Study! Josh finished reading Triangles and he did the review unit test for Geometry and got everything right except for one small error. It was a great unit (I much prefer doing math this way) but we are "geometred" out. I reviewed Josh's math workbook deciding what/if we should do anything next. Still deciding. Lastly I've been meaning to share a piece of Josh's writing from the Bravewriter unit. Here is a piece he did on "SQIB" his fictional pirate character that he created. Enjoy!
SQIB is a very scary guy. He’s a pirate with a ship called the Dragon Fire. He can barf up ink like a octopus because he has practiced a lot. But he can't do it every second he can only do it every hour. He is sooooooo scary he can petrify a person. He eats starfish crabs and lobsters but when he is on a diet he eats sea cucumbers, coral and scraps of fish. He can only go on land 1 time every 100 years because if he goes on land on year 1 to 99 he will turn into dust. He smells so bad because he can only take a bath every 100 years. His swords are made of steel and he shows no mercy in a battle. |
