If I had a blog...

So here is an update for those that are wondering....

So here is what we have been up to:

Parent's Night Out - a very enjoyable evening with other homeschooling parents.

A birthday party - the theme was smooooothies - yum!

Ordered butterflies - they should be here the week of May 4 or so.

Joshua did a Mask Making art class.  The instructor was very good.  She went through the history of masks and had many books to pour over for choosing a design.  Then they got out the reams of aluminum foil to shape their mask and then covered that with this gauze like stuff that they use for casts.  That dried and the following week they painted their masks.  She gave them lots of color theory instruction as well.  Noah didn't do the mask making but she invited him to do some painting on paper and used his painting to demonstrate some color theory to the rest of the class, he was so proud.  I don't have a picture of Josh's mask yet but I will get one and insert it here later.

Paul and I attended the annual AHEA (Alberta Home Education Association) conference.  In fact Paul was speaking at it - Teaching with Lego.  He did an AWESOME job (about 300 people in his session) and I'm thinking he'll get lots of "business" for his Lego classes.  I enjoyed the conferenece and was able to look at a few things for next year but didn't buy anything yet.  Still pondering a few things.

Made a trip into the city and did two field trips in one day.  The first was to the Science Center (which has two new sections Wowtown and the Creative Kids Museum).  And we went on a tour of the Bernard Callebeau chocolate store. YUM!  We also attended Noah's homeschool kinder class the next day, he especially loves gym time.  The highlight for me was visiting and knitting with my friend.  I had been in a knitting funk for sometime and getting together with her pulled me out of that funk.  YEAH!

Then I was off to a scrapbooking weekend - which was a lot of fun and I got a lot done!  I'm in the home stretch of what I want to get completed and then I'm switching over to digital.  Looking forward to that!

This week is a quiet week at home (hence the time to blog).  Next week is busy again so I'll have another entry for you after that.

We are in the home stretch of finishing up this year (on target to end on Josh's birthday, May 17).  My plan is to continue doing stuff with Noah as I find he sometimes doesn't get as much of my time as he should.  I'm also thinking for him that I might go to a year round schedule - still thinking on that one.

Well that's it for me for now.  Today is Teatime and with no groceries in the house that means we'll need to bake some treats (one of Noah's favorite activities) but I'll need to clean the kitchen first, so I'm off to do that before the kids get up.

Chat with you all later.
