Baby coming...please pray!

Found out last Sat. that I'm due for a baby in Mid March.  Due to my history of miscarriages, I'd appreciate prayers for safety and healthy delivery in March. Thanks.

Kerry holding Luke. Paul beside. We rented a van in Skagway and drove up into the mountains. It was very windy and cold. We weren't allowed to cross the border because we were Canadians with a US rental car. It would've been neat to go to the Yukon. Oh well.

This is my DH on far left with my parents beside me and my brother and his wife (in shades) and their 2 girls. The girl on far right is a friend of their daughter. This was taken at the grand opening of Power to Change's (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ, Canada) new addition. My parents have been on staff since I was five.

New photo

Forgot to tell you we went to Alaska on a cruise as a family. Lest you think we are rich- we got it for free with credit card points!

It was lots of fun although I got  a taste of what the rich must feel like... Is this all there is to life?  Going to another sumptuous meal, staring at the water...I know you feel so bad for me.

Check out our new photo in the album.

Been making new friends...Went to the British Columbia Homeschool Conference.  Spent a day doing seminars with Jessica Hulcy- co-creator of Konos curriculum.  Sounds like  a lot of work but it seems to be better for children's brains to have hands- on learning like that. I got Vol. 1 online second hand for 40 including shipping. Reg 107.  I do like a bargain!

the year of Job

Hi this year has been one of trials for our family. We were expecting again in May and I had another miscarriage in June. This time it was a partial molar pregnancy which in rare cases can lead to cancer. SO the Dr. told me not to get pregnant for a year and I had to go every week to get my blood checked for HCG levels. (Now I only go 1x/month)

Before that DH and I were living with kids on Vancouver Island for 2 months while the first house of our business was being built. the day after we moved back Dh's  car was broken into and his computer and other electronics were stolen. We have had business money go way into negative line of credit and then just when we thot we'd have to shut it all down, the Lord provided $ so it was brought back up to zero. Now investors are backing off for some reason, and we're still trusting the Lord to provide.

WE had major renos done to our house- obligatory stuff. had a guy living with us who did the work.

Homeschooling is going well. doing Sonlight this year with other stuff thrown in.

We did our monthly hospital service tonight.  Kerry (DH) went to a big football game today. His team lost and he had usual headache and dizziness.

Trying to get the house organized. iT's a total disaster.

help Lord!

One of my good friends just moved across the continent. SHe has 3 kids same ages as ours.

Heart of Wisdom teaching approach

Hi there all you lovely people! It seems as if winter is lasting forever doesn't it?  We live on the west coast of southern Canada and we've had snow on the ground pretty well for a month now.  It's finally being rained away, but usually our one or two snowfalls only last a couple days.  The weather is really changing both winter and summer. Last summer we had a drought which is unusual for our "Vancouver Rain Festival" which runs from January 1 til December 31st!

Well I'm reading my new book The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach, by Robin Sampson.

It is really excellent.  I highly recommend it to those of you who are looking for a lifestyle of learning which leans heavily on the Word of God for the "main course" of your curriculum.  www.heartofwisdom.com

Robin has created several unit studies on different topics such as: Wisdom, From Adam to Abraham, Biblical Holidays, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Creation, Light, Energy, etc.  She also encourages you to create your own unit studies.

There is a free download of her book available at her website: http://homeschool-books.com/xcart/books/freebies/

She goes into how the Greek and Roman classical style of teaching is still used in public schools today (as well as many homeschools).  She describes the Biblical/Hebraic model of education which is more in tune with what Christians want for their children.  It's fascinating reading.  It's a huge book with many resource lists at the back geared for different age groups.  My oldest is in grade one. Her approach goes from K-12, with modifications.

Bye for now.

God blesses you when you seek Him first.

Happy New Year

Wow 2007 already! DH Kerry and I were reminiscing the other night about 1999 when the world was concerned about the end of the world. Y2K mania.  We were considering going out to live in the bush!

Going to post our new family photo. It was hard getting the 2 youngest to smile.  Joshua (2) usually shows his dimples for everyone but for some reason he didn't warm up to the Walmart portrait lady.  By the way, PRAY for Karam and her daughter Harleen (cashier at Walmart).  They are Sikh religion from India.  I connected with her and she agreed to look up the website journey of joy.com. (4 spiritual laws geared for women)

Joshua stopped nursing Dec. 26.  It's kind of bittersweet since I don't know if Jesus will bless us with another one or not.  We're praying about adopting a child.  I've had to avoid all kinds of foods because of Joshua's food sensitivies so it's been weird/great to all of a sudden be able to eat anything I want.  (PRAY for self-control!)  He also went from a crib to a toddler bed a few days later.  He still is learning how to stay in bed.

My DH Kerry is out of town this weekend because after 5 long years his company is finally going to build it's first steel home.  Homeschooling is very relaxed around our house. I need to get more organized and set up  a daily schedule so we can get more accomplished and the boys don't get so bored or out of control.

Miscarriage- Faith is in heaven

Three days ago, I found out at an ultrasound that my baby died 4 weeks ago.  Right about the time that I found out I was pregnant and was telling everyone.

I miscarried the next day.  It sounds so easy but it was lonely and bloody and I ended up in the hospital for 2 hours with my DH and midwife.  I lost a lot of blood and they put an IV in me after 3 tries.  We sent the baby to pathology to try and figure out what went wrong. It's the 2nd loss. DH Kerry said God told him the baby's name is Faith.  It doesn't mean it was a girl but that God is testing and proving that our faith is strong.

My mom's brother Pete passed into eternity this afternoon.  He was 72 and had a heart attack. My dad is 71 so it hits close to home.

Mom's going to fly across the country to Toronto for the funeral. their other sibling Ted is in the middle of the atlantic ocean on a cruise so I hope he gets to the funeral. Please pray for the extended family.  There is some unforgivness towards my mom that we pray gets resolved and healed. thanks.

Newly pregnant with another blessing

Hi there everyone!

Here is the disorganized relaxed perfectionist homeschooling mother.  I am mom to 3 boys ages 5 (dec 19/00) 3 (ap 15/03) almost 2 (10/22/04). I just found out last Friday that blessing number 4 will arrive in June 07 God willing!

So i'm up to my ears in housework and not spending too much formal time on hs but ds #1 is not suffering too much.  He's got the reading with short vowels down and a lot of sight words and he loves when I read classic children's lit to him. (usually during nap time)

Gotta run . Catch ya later!

after deciding to homeschool at age 23 while single, Loriann is now in her second year of homeschooling at age 40 (married with 3 cute rambunctious boys). She'll ramble on to let you know of her ups and downs.
