Several months ago, Kase begged us for a sugar glider. I honestly hated for him to spend his savings on one, but being the nature lover that he is, he HAD to have one. (Haven't we all heard THAT one?). Well, Monday night he fed her as usual. She's nocturnal and sleeps during the day unless he gets her up and feeds her a snack. When he went to feed her last night, he came running to me saying, "Mom! Clara got out of her cage sometime during the night!". I was thinking, "There's no way" but she really had! Panic soon turned to jubilation as Clara was discovered atop the water heater in her carry pouch. BUT, an open box of Decon Rat Poison was also beside her pouch, with numerous small bits of freshly eaten decon scattered about. Well, Kase was terribly upsest. My heart hurt to see him so hurt. I also didn't want Clara to suffer so. Soooo, my mother's heart set to praying. Now, before I get hate mail about worshipping the creation over the Creator, let me interject right here that I DO NOT worship the created more than my loving Heavenly Father but I do know that He sees the sparrow when it falls and He feeds them and sprinkles even the flowers with fresh dew every morning. So, I ran TO the Creator as q child (which I am...His) and begged Him to spare Clara. Our sermon Sunday morning was about Psalm 94:4--He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? I asked Him to see Kasey's tears and to hear his cries and to please spare Clara if it would be His will. This morning the children went out to the garage and there was Clara...running like a little wild rabbit in her wheel! Just as frisky and healthy as usual. That's God. Some might say, "Well, she got lucky". You don't get lucky with Decon, you get buried. God's eyes saw and His ears heard, and He touched that little furry critter.
Later we were talking about it and Kasey said, "Well, maybe she didn't eat that much. Maybe it just looked like she had eaten some. Maybe she didn't eat enough to make her sick". I just asked him, "Bubby, you're not trying to down play the miracle that God gave you, are you?". That's Satan. He is the Master "maybe". He's the Master Liar. He's the Master Down-Player. He in way wants us to give God the glory and honor that He deserves. He doesn't want us praising God or thanking Him for intervening on our behalf. God does intercede. He does care about the smallest things. He does care when we're sad, or angry, dejected, or discouraged. He expects us to come to Him with the least things because He knows that if we can trust Him with the smallest, we can also trust Him with the largest (problems). If we fall into Satan's trap of "maybe", God doesn't get praise for hearing and answering prayer. May we never cease to praise Him for simply being the great Creator. The Almighty God. And may we catch ourselves if we "down-play" His marvelous works.
Til Next Time,
Lisa (and Clara!)
