Just wanted to say hello and we're busy. We're working on The American Revolution and are using History Through the Ages. The kids are having a ball creating their own Jamestown replica. Tomorrow we'll do science then come back to do timeline work, copywork using a great quote from William Bradford, and mapwork using one of the original maps of the thirteen colonies. Even though we've been working on the Revolution for awhile, we just started cementing the facts with HTTA. I personally think that it's very Charlotte Masonish-we're reading living books about living (well, at SOME point they were! LOL!) people and then creating memories about those people and places.
Anyway, tomorrow is a field trip to learn about various animals using LIVE demonstrations. We're going to try and follow that with a field trip to the local strawberry farm. They opened the fields to the public to do their own picking (and eating). Usually it's so terribly hot that I don't take the children because I get sick (literally) when I get too hot. Since we've had a cold front come through yesterday, tomorrow looks to be about 70 glorious degrees...if the wind today continues to dry up the muck and the mire, I don't see why we can't just go load up on strawberries and memory making!
Well, Rosie has Davey-who's asleep on her chest-and she's starving, so I need to run make her a sandwich before Latin class-which is in half and hour. I TOLD you we were busy! I didn't even get to the rest of the week! Have some spiritual thoughts floating around in my head, so I'll try to pop in soon and jote them down.
Til Next Time,
Lisa |
