This week Laura-Faith and I were working on math. I'd given her a large Hundreds Chart and, while I called out numbers, she'd find them and color them in. The result was to be a picture to answer a riddle that I'd asked at the beginning of the lesson. Anyway, I called out 12 and she became stumped. To give her a hint, I asked her what was around 12. As quick as ever, she came back with, "Lunch time".
Nature Boy loves to make up new words. Words not found in a dictionary, at least, not an American Dictionary. Laura Faith and I had been studying Flamingoes. That night, nature Boy was irritating (do boys do that???)her and calling them Flahuboes. He'd say, "They're Flahuboes, right?" to which she'd reply, "No! They're FlaMINGoes". This goes back and forth and then he says, "And they're pink, right?". As quick as a wink, in Laura Faith fashion she comes back with, "No! FlaHUboes are brown.".
As we were sitting around the table eating our Sunday After Church Fried Chicken, Laura Faith said, "I'm getting old. I've about lost all my teeth" (she hasn't really). Bill proceeded to tell her about his father's false teeth. "You know, Grandpa Rupert has lost all of his teeth and now he has teeth that he can take out. He takes them out to clean them". Our wonderful, six-year-old delight promptly replies, "Oh. You're talking about goofy teeth".
Well, tomorrow is busy, busy, busy so I thought I'd send something tonight...just don't read it until tomorrow! LOL!
Rosie has her first concert performance with the Orchestra tomorrow. Pray for her nerves if you think of it. She appears so calm and professional but she really is nervous during her performances. She is the Concert Master for the Youth Orchestra. Mr. Pellar told her she could stay on with the YO until she was 80! She was concerned because she'll turn 18 next month but he relieved her mind, bless her heart. I'll try to post pictures of their concert later.
And now for tomorrow's entry:
"Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand-and melting like a snowflake..."
Today, while relaxing after Sunday dinner, Laura Faith began to draw on the mini magna-doodle. She asked Bill to draw a horse. After a brief inspection, she took the pen and commenced to add to his artwork. Bill looked at her drawing and told her that horses don’t have beards. Being the ever brilliant 5-year-old, she quickly responded, “Oh, that’s not his beard. That’s his low mane”.
Welcome to my place to ramble, witness, and vent (occasionally). Hopefully you'll enjoy yourself while you're here. I believe we need to seize the moments that God gives us. We never know which ones will be our last.
