Rejoice and Come Before Him With Praise

Thank you all so much for your prayers concerning my and my sisters' health.  I recovered fully as did my two sisters.  Carla only missed one day of classes, which her professors gladly let her off (she is such a good student and has never missed a day).  Midterms are now over and she is spending her spring break with us here at home.  Such fun!
Rebekah came down with a cold yesterday, so she is not feeling very well once again.  Poor kid.  :(
Also, I have another thing to praise God for today!  Last night it began raining and during the night turned into a snowstorm.  I woke up to 10 inches of snow on the ground!  This will be so helpful for all the farmers.  With wheat at the deciding point right now, every bit of moisture will be very helpful in assuring a fruitful crop.  I only hope that all the ranchers and their newly born calves are all safe.  It's pretty much a blizzard at the moment.
Another praise report to share!  Candace Joy seems to be on the road to recovery and is amazing her hospital staff everyday.  Praise the Lord!
I hope and wish that you are having a wonderful day as well and find something to praise God for!

Pleas For Prayer

On Friday we drove down to Pueblo to visit with my two sisters and to have a pseudo-family get together.  It was the big state basketball tournament in Pueblo so a lot of my aunts and uncles were in Pueblo at the same time to root for their hometown teams.
During the drive southwards I began to feeling really carsick, which I'd kind of expected since our wonderful (ha!) Suburban always makes me dreadfully carsick every time we take a long trip in it.  This time, however, was especially bad.  Not only did I feel like I might loose my breakfast of yogurt Cheerios I was chilling really severely (and the Suburban is REALLY drafty - and it was a cold day), and my back was killing me.  By the time we reached Colorado Springs I was truly thinking about running into a gas station restroom.  Grandma, so sweetly, made me sit up front to help with the carsickness.  Onwards we drove to Pueblo, every curve and bump turning me greener until I looked like a lime.
Once we arrived at my great-aunt and uncle's (where my sister Carla is living at the moment) I darted inside, said a quick hello to my great aunt, explained that I wasn't feeling well and rushed downstairs.
Rebekah was dealing with this "carsickness" as well.
My first 2 hours of visiting was awful, I was very non-social and spent most of the time laying on the bed.  Finally after an aspirin and a hot shower took effect I was able to go along with my family for a shopping trip to Sams and Wal-Mart (oh joy.).
The rest of the visit didn't seem to improve at all, my stomach persisted in its queasiness and even the smell of food made me want to run.  Of course I was completely confused by this, my head was fine, and this wasn't a cold or flu like I'd ever had.  And this couldn't be carsickness!!!
So I spent the whole weekend in various cars, driving from place to place, joining family at their restaurant tables and only staring at my lovely food.  At my sister Laura's new home we were having a sort of Housewarming for them, everyone wanting to see their new house.  It was wonderful to see everything set up and organized at last!  They have a lovely home - I wish I would have remembered to take pictures.
So yesterday morning we headed home, not before stopping at Wal-Mart once again to pick up groceries.  I do a lot of our grocery shopping since I do most of the cooking.  So through Wal-Mart I trudged (feeling rather well except for some lingering nausea and an overwhelming hunger) and at the checkout I found quite a few items in my cart that were not on the list... Hmmm... Wonder how that could've happened.
I seem to be on the road of recovery finally.  I'm trying to get my stomach back to working condition (it wishes to refuse!) and trying to catch up on chores.
I really appreciate all your prayers and well-wishes for my health.  Please pray for Rebekah as well (she is recovering a lot faster than me - she claims it is her pickle remedy), and oh I please ask you all to pray for my sister Carla who called this morning to tell me that I'd given her my bug.  She is going through midterms this week and cannot afford to miss any school days, so please pray for her!  Thank you so much!

A Note From Candace Joy's Mother

I just wanted to make sure that you all saw this message that Cathy posted on a previous blog entry.

Thank you very much for praying and writing about Candace Joy. We still are battling this terrible infection! Although Candace got this germ shortly after our trip to Costa Rica, she contracted Beta Strep in her system and in a rare and wierd way it started taking over her body! Beta Strep is a very common germ found everywhere in every room ,and on our skin. It is the same germ you get when you have strep throught. Please continue to pray for her and keep your many readers posted as we have a long ways to go . If you could post her photo from our web ,it helps people to connect in prayer. Thanks again and God bless you.

In Christ,
Cathy Walsh

Still praying for Candace!   May God richly bless and keep your family!
Remember to hug your children today and thank God for them.  Never put off letting them know how much you love them!

Children In Need of Prayer

This is a follow up to my previous post on Candace Joy.  She had her 13th surgery yesterday morning and she seems to be on the road to recovery, though she is still in serious condition and needs our continued prayers.  Her mom wrote this:
"Candace did well today in her thirteenth surgery since this illness began.  In her abdominal cavity they found that the infection looked like it had cleared and they were able to close it up.  Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and the faithfulness of all the saints who have prayed.  This was a very large and deep site. They also closed one more small site on her side.  This  leaves one more open site on her back.  The doctor said things could drain to this area and he want to watch it .   Please continue to pray that she can hold the tube feedings and not go into vomiting.  In surgery today they moved her stomach tube to her large intestine and they are hoping this will alleviate the problem.  We will inform  you tomorrow of the next move here.  Thanks for staying  in prayer.
In Christ,
Cathy"

Also, see this blog post for another little girl who needs our prayers, Emily.

Candace Joy

One of my fellow Homeschool Blogger's daughters came down with a very rare, and very terrible infection after a overseas trip.  It began to eat away at her bones and muscles in her legs and then spread into her hips.  A prayer request was sent out by the thousands and has spread from blog to blog.  She has had multiple surgeries and by the last post I read, seems to be doing better, although her condition is still very, very serious and life-threatening.  Please keep her in your prayers, and the parents as well, they not only are facing a terrible prospect of possibly losing their daughter, and all the stress of surgery and hospital stays, but also a lot of guilt.
Their site for Candace is set up at www.CandaceJoy.org  Please take a moment to drop by and let them know that you are praying!  You can read the entire story by starting at the bottom of the page and working up.

And We Shall Know That This Is Love...

I just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day!  Being single, Valentine's hasn't meant much to me as of yet, and some of you might be feeling that very same thing, but here's a thought:
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

- John 3:16
"Herein is love, not that we loved God,
but that he loved us, and sent his Son to
be the propitiation for our sins."
- 1John 4:10
"But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

- Romans 5:8

"Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
- Romans 8:39
"This is my commandment, That ye love
one another, as I have loved you."
- John 15:12
"And the Lord make you to increase and abound in
love
one toward another, and toward all men,
even as we do toward you:"

- 1 Thessalonians 3:12

"And let us consider one another to provoke
unto love and to good works:"
- Hebrews 10:24

Happy Valentine's Day!
God Loves You!

In Praise of A Young Knight Amidst A Bunch Of Dragons

Have you ever been to Snopes.com?  This is the internet authority on all those forward e-mails you get repeating some story from somewhere that is most often not true.
Anyway, I was reading in the forum this morning in an abortion topic.  Just so you know, most if not 90% of the people who are members of this forum are not Christians, or are not a Bible-believing, God walking Christian.  A lot of them are aethists, humanists and various other forms of Godlessness.  I've often been completely shocked at some of the things they've said, or just overwhelmed by disgust and sadness.
In this abortion topic someone had posted the content of an abortion flyer that they had been given at an anti-abortion rally outside of an abortion clinic.  The flyer was one that was rather extreme, spouting death and destruction and urged those who don't believe in abortion to take a stand and "prevent" anyone they knew from getting or giving an abortion.  Of course the other members of this forum just took it upon themselves to tear this to pieces and glory in their "humanist" outlook on life and unborn fetuses.  At this point in reading I just wanted to close the window and never look at it again... Disgusting!  Here are some of the comments that were being made:
"If it's so evil to kill something while it's still in the womb, then why is it that so many pregnancies naturally end in miscarriage or stillbirth, or even fail to take?" - Pseudo_Croat
Here's the kicker to the whole conversation:  "
On another note, shouldn't Christians really only be following the New Testament? Didn't Jesus say that all of the old laws were moot and only his laws (love God above all else, love thy neighbor as you love yourself) were to apply henceforth? So it really shouldn't matter what supposedly happened in Genesis or Leviticus." - ThistleS
   *me with shock and horror!!!*
This is the point in which I just about left off reading.  But, lo and behold, in the midst of all this godlessness a young man, JetEd73, stands up for God and for the truth!!!  Praise GOD!  Here's his reply:
   "
Mathew 5 - 'Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.  Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.'"
This shuts down the statement made by ThistleS, and he/she appologizes and says, "I obviously need to brush up on my New Testament"
JetEd73 goes on to say a couple posts down, "
I'm not a theologan either.  I'm just a young christian with my emphasis on bible study.  As such I must say that you need to study the bible in it's entirety (sp) to have a full understanding...both old and new testaments.  I largely hold my tounge on these posts. Most people here are humanists. They are under the impression that man is the ultimate authority.  Here's a little reading that might hit home with some of you Romans 1.
I say this is a pretty good explaination of biblical doctrine on abortion. Abortion."
Wow, how often have I been reading on this forum and just passed up the opportunity to say something because I feel outnumbered or afraid to stand up and say something in such a hostile environment?  This young man had that courage!
So, I don't know who you are JetEd73 but I wish I could thank you for taking a stand!  You are truly a knight in the midst of some fearsome dragons.

About Me

This is the place for me to pour out my thoughts, the happenings in my life, and my dreams. I live with my family in Colorado, helping out at home while also running a youth magazine from my faithful and, for the most part, cooperative computer. Writing is my passion, putting my thoughts down on paper, writing letters or e-mails, it's who I am. And so creating a magazine is a perfect outlet for that, as well as having this blog! I hope you enjoy it! My Profile
