Tonigh was our "performance Night" at co-op... It went wonderful...

My DS played 3 songs on the piano, DD sang and did some cute little dances with her "Fun Time" class... and then my good friend Rhonda and I combined our classes for a really cute skit on the Yanomami tribe from the South American Rain Forest and animals from the Rain Forest...

It was great... The kids did so well... Rhonda and I had gathered up homemade masks, straw skirts, head pieces, and various other props like a bow  & arrow, and some bamboo that I got at Dollar Tree to use as "pretend" blow guns... They kids loved it... and so did we... I am so proud of them and their hard work..

There were other performances by the choir, piano and guitar students performed... Chess awards and drama awards were given out.... The band performed...

A great evening topped off by going and getting ice cream to celebrate DS *8th" birthday...

My "Begining Phonics" class at co-op... Our "Letter of the Week" this week was "Z" and we pretended to be zoo animals... (don't you just love all you can do with ZooPals plates)...*L*

Today was our first day back at co-op and it was a bit hectic... I am teaching  classes (Beginning Phonics and Countries of the World) and helping in the "Contenders for the Faith" club... The kidlets each have a full day of classes...

DD is taking: Fun Time with Mrs. Cecilia..(which she loves, they dance, sing, and learn little rhymes)

Then we are off to Karate at 4pm... So a really full day...

Which brings me to the thought... We are "HOME" schoolers, how come we are never at home???

At co-op today , the "Countries of the World" class (ages 4-6) studied Greece...We wore togas and talked about modern Greece and the famous buildings like the Acropolis and the Parthenon... We discussed what their diet consists of (they loved how they get the Octopus ready to be grilled) and the culture... and colored the map and flag of Greece...
Then we talked a little about ancient Greece and what school was like (if you were a boy, that is) and about the Spartans..

To finish off the class we danced to some traditional Greek folk music... OPA!!!
