Mar. 22, 2007 - Due date and sick son

Well, today was the "big day".  That is, my due date.  No baby has arrived yet, but for now that's okay, because I'm dealing with a very sick little boy instead!   Connor started with a fever and croupy sounding cough on Tuesday evening.  He slept all night, which surprised me, but yesterday he got a lot worse.  Last night was miserable.  He kept waking up, gasping for air.  We almost took him to the ER, but tried everything natural and/or homeopathic that we could do instead.  I'd take him into the bathroom, turn the shower on as hot as it can get and sit and steam for 5 or 10 minutes.  Then, I'd open the window and he'd stick his head out and breathe in the colder air.  That seemed to work pretty well.  I also rubbed the herb Lobelia on his chest and back, along with Unkers salve, which is similar to Vicks.  Got very little sleep....Today he seemed a little better, but is still running his fever.  His breathing seems better until he starts to cough, and he's also complaining about his throat.  I pray that he sleeps better tonight!  I think we'll be seeing the doc tomorrow if he's not much improved.  I've got to get him well before this baby arrives!  It doesn't make sense, except that maybe God just wants me to trust Him more.  We were so blessed to not be sick all winter long.....and now, WHEN I'M SUPPOSED TO BE HAVING A BABY, I have a child who is sicker than any of us have been in a long time!  God knows what is best, so I guess I shouldn't be frettin' about it.  We are praying that none of the other children get what Connor has.

So...what do you suppose my pregnancy counter will say tomorrow?  Will it keep counting past 40 weeks?  Oh, the mystery.....

Oh Cheryl,
I hope Conner is well soon. I know what you are going through. As my due date approached and passed these types of things kept happening. Joey broke his arm so there were Dr appt's and x-rays and orthopedic visits, Elizabeth was throwing up, Chris was sick. I was thinking the same thing...God what's going on here??? Anyway, everyone was well and taken care of by the time Jake did arrive. I can't wait to hear some news...I keep checking......

I'll be praying for you all!
Sometimes, when the kids are sick and I'm feeling stressed out I ask God to send some "nurse/doctor" angels to help me out. Love Toni
