| I’ve lived a lot of places in my life. I was born in Tennessee although we lived in Kentucky at the time. We spent a short 4 months in California followed by 4 months in Texas. Then we moved to Alabama where I lived from the ages of 16 months to three, I only have a few memories of my time there, mostly involving birthday cake. Our next move brought us west & back to San Antonio Texas. We lived here for just over 4 years. I remember hot Texas summers; days spent at Sea World, the Alamo & some of my friends.
We packed up and were on the move again; this time north to Colorado Springs, home of Focus on the Family. This was the first time we bought a house and we got our room painted with a bright blue and chalkboard paint roads that we could write on. I have a lot of memories from Colorado Springs; I liked the snow and the mountains.
Next we moved east to Washington D.C. where we lived for a short 8 months, while my dad was in school for his next assignment which moved us to Uzbekistan for about two years. I really loved it there; we had a great house and good friends. It was hard to say good-bye but we were heading off to another cool place which brings me here, literally, to Canberra.
Not only do we move a lot but we travel a lot as well. I sure have put in the car time on road trips. I have been in 46 out of the 50 US states, including Alaska and we have done the East coast of Australia from Cape Tribulation down to the 12 apostles. I have also spent a little time in different countries: Canada, Mexico, England, Germany, Turkey, and Russia & New Zealand.
I like this quote from Bilbo Baggins, in J.R.R.Tolkens’ Fellowship of the Rings. “"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door, you step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to. I like being able to travel and see new places. This way or that it is always an adventure! |
