Our Easter Family Traditions
Every year we do some of the same things. We decorate the house a little. We have fun dying a ton of Easter Eggs. Some of them we dye when they are hardboiled and some of them we blow out, so we can keep them for awhile. I like blowing the eggs out.
On the night before Easter we make resurrection cookies. Mom tells us the story of Jesus as she goes along and we have to taste the vinegar. Yuck! When we wake up the next morning we have empty tombs. That is cool.
On Easter morning we normally have something yummy to eat like cinnamon rolls or hot cross buns. Sometimes we have a sunrise service where we read the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection from the Bible. We sing some songs like He is Risen and then we do the resurrection Easter eggs. I like to do the eggs a lot.
We spend a few days doing some type of unit study about Easter or about Jesus for school. It is good to learn more abut Him every year.
I love the plastic eggs that mom fills up with candy. I like to play with them for egg hunts.
Some of my favorite Easter treats are: Marshmallow Peeps, Reese’s Eggs and Cadbury Eggs.
We play a hard boiled “egg crash” game on Easter Sunday. You take a hardboiled egg and roll it across the table into someone else’s egg and whoever has the egg that doesn’t crack is the winner.
I love Easter. I love the books that we read and the time to remember Jesus dieing for our sins and his rising from death, for my sins and that I am His. |
