Busy days....

Busy days....but then, aren't they all busy? You know time is flying when your six old daughter tells you that time is passing quickly.

Exciting things are happening around here. Selling some of our cows has been a blessing. It seemed to jumpstart changes around here. I love watching the Lord bring things together for us.

A friend is a logger and he'll be moving equipment here soon to begin logging the top pastures. Honey is so happy to know he'll soon have more acres for pasture. Trees, we have plenty of....pasture land, not so much. Out of our 83 acres, I believe about 35 of it is open and pasture. Honey feels we'll gain about 12 acres of pasture.

We also had someone here who told us about no till seed drilling and how that could be used for planting winter feed for our cows. It would be wonderful to not spend big bucks every year for hay. We do have a haybine, but no baler...and really, not enough land to keep out of the rotation of grazing to cut for hay.

We have lived here for five years. Alot of work and effort..not to mention money...has gone into our farm. It's neat to start seeing real improvements...and perhaps the animals paying for themselves...and more?! :)

Fall is on its way. Next week is supposed to bring cooler temperatures....like 70's for the high and 50's for the low. I'm so ready for this!! I've been waiting for it since summer began....I'm so not a fan of summer.... !!!

School is finished for the week. I like the changes we've made this year. Though we do need to work on getting back on a schedule soon....

Hope you all have a blessed weekend!

Happy Engagement Day to my Honey!!

Nineteen years ago on this day, my sweet beloved took me to the beach.

After talking for quite awhile, he slipped off the bench we were sitting on, got down on one knee, opened a small jewelry box and asked me to be his wife. To share his life with him. To be his forever more.

I couldn't get the YES! out of my mouth fast enough!!! :)

Thus started the most wonderful part of my life, that of being my Honey's wife. Through it all, we've been a true couple. Always together. Always loving each other. Always lifting each other up. Always looking for ways to help each other. Always in love....ALWAYS!!! :)

So, happy engagement day to my Honey! I'm yours forever and I'm ever so thankful that the Lord brought us together and made us one.

Happy Decade, Hank!!!

Hank is so excited, that he is a whole decade, today!!!  Ten years ago today, I screamed in relief, "I am done!!"  When I realized I had just given birth to our first son.  He weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz. and was 22" long.  My most difficult birth.  He is our only surprise gender birth.  They could not tell in the ultrasound his sex, so we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl until his arrival.  His due date was Sept. 04 and because I was determined not to be induced he was not born until Sept. 20, when I finally let them induce me.  I am convinced that I was going to be indefinitely pregnant.  I also did not want an epidural and held out until I was 8 cm until I caved in and let them convince me I needed one.  I was completely dilated in 15 mins. and the epidural hindered my pushing.  He was stuck.  And took about 30 mins. to get out.  He was born a blue baby and my hubby did not get to cut the cord, he immediately had to have oxygen.  He is my biggest baby!  He looks like his daddy, but has my curly hair.  He is an absolute doll and all the girls love him.  He is very sweet and loving.  A wonderful big brother.  He has mowed our yard all summer long and it has never looked so good.  He is a cowboy.  He is a football player.  And I am proud to say, "He is my son!"  I love you, Hank.  Happy Birthday!

What I've Learned!!!

This past week, I have learned:

to love every smell of a newborn baby, even the not so pleasant ones

to hold my children a little bit tighter, even when they don't want to be held

to be thankful for all God has blessed us with, we definitely are blessed

never to take one single day for granted-you never know when it may be someone's last

My dear sister-in-law & brother-in-law are suffering a great loss.  On Thursday, my sister-in-law had to deliver their precious baby girl.  Molly was 22 1/2 weeks pg and Baby Maggie weighed 12.9 ounces.  She lived a few minutes and then went to be with Jesus.  Please keep this wonderful family in your prayers!  They will be having a graveside service sometime this week.  Molly developed HELLP and had serious complications.  She got to go home from the hospital today, but has a long road of recovery ahead.

A Family Guide to the Bible by Christin Ditchfield....Book Review

Posted in Book reviews

Family Guide to the Bible

Get to know your way around the Scripture wtih this family-friendly tour through the Bible.

I have to start out by saying...I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!! :) I think all families should have a copy of this book in their library. It's wonderful!!!

Christine Ditchfield starts the book out by writing about the history of the Bible. Where did it come from? She then proceeds to answer the question of how can we trust the Bible...that it is the word of God.  Then she moves to the question of what it's all about.

Then she gets to the meat of this book. Each and every one of the sixty-six books of the Bible is given a synopsis.

This is how each chapter is broken down:

The Book (the name of the Bible book)
The Author (who authored this book of the Bible)
The Audience (who is this book directed towards)
The Setting (where in the world is this located and what time)
The Story (a short overview of the book)
The Message ( a brief synopsis of the entire book, with chapter and verse references)

The key verse for the book

More on this story in the Bible. This is wonderful...if you are researching a particular subject, person or time, you can find more references in this section.

A short words to know section identifies the most significant words contained in this Book.

The Did You Know section is the best! Some little snippet about each Book is included. Then the Making The Connection section gies you some background as to what is going on during this Book's writing.

I can't say enough good things about this book. It's engaging, informative and easy to read. I can see this one being in our family library for many years to come. I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to review such a fine book. And I thank Crossway Publishers for publishing it!
