Exodus Family

Well I said I'd never blog.. and yet here I am with a blog. I finally could not resist. I am hoping it will help me to keep better track of all the blessings of our family life.

To introduce us a bit... I am Lynn married for over 17 years to a most wonderful husband (Harold). We are blessed so far with 9 dc on this earth - Jeremy (23 - living in HA), Bryan (almost 20 - living in AZ), Rebecca (16), Aaron (12), Isaac (10), Molly (7), Caleb (almost 4), Noah (almost 2), and Micah (12 days). We have been homeschooling since Nov. 1992... over 13 years now. We homeschool using mostly BJU curr. We also use Easy Grammar, Mystery of History, and Wordly Wise.

In June of 2004 we moved from San Diego County to 11 acres in Deep East TX. What a blessing! We love it here! Since the move we have added chickens (layers & broilers), guineas, 3 dogs, and La Mancha dairy goats. It has been a learning experience. We had a garden last year and hope to double it's size this year.

I tend to be a very organized and scheduled person in many things... I love lists, charts, and schedules.... except for babies and toddlers. So we flex within our schedules so we always meet the needs of our little ones.

My dh wears several hats. Pool man (we started our own family pool cleaning business), water store guy (he works for a water store part time), and tax man (during tax season). We love the flexibility this allows our family. He is blessed to be able to include our two middle sons in this and each works with dad one day a week and schools year round 4 days a week.

I think I better wrap this up now... Micah wants to nurse and I need to oversee some of the evening chores.

Well, well. The temptation was too great, huh? I've been resisting as well, but feel myself getting weaker. Who knows, I may join up here before long too.

Look forward to reading.

Wow! With nine children I guess you'd need to be organized!! I'd love to hear some of your best tips sometime. I only have three at home, and am working hard on becoming more organized, but have a ways to go!

Sounds like a lovely life you have there in Texas. Do you butcher your own chickens? We have several for eggs, but I haven't actually butchered any yet. I'd like to, just not brave enough, yet.

Welcome to blogging. Your blog looks like it's going to be a good one, I'll be checking back in!
Blessings

I'll try to post soon about our charts and schedules. They have been wonderful tools to help us be reasonably organized.

Yes, we butcher our own chickens. We were a bit hesitant to start, especially having never even seen it done, but we did have a good book and it was MUCH easier than we feared. We love knowing exactly what went into the meat we are eating and what did not. We'd love to add a pig & steer this year....
